DS surprised this morning at school by Rep Williams (TX-25) who gave him a nom to USAFA . Estatic

DS got a non-select letter today from Cornyn today dated 12-16-16. She has an ROTC, Congressional, and Secretary of the Army so we are still pushing hard.
 
I believe DS has his non-select letter in today's mail too. We have an envelope from United States Senate / John Cornyn. :( Haven't heard anything from Senator Cruz or our congressman.
 
DS turned down by Cornyn, nothing from Cruz yet, yea or nay.
 
DS received the Principal nomination to USNA from Granger (Texas District-12)and also received a nomination from her for USMA. He got the thin white envelope from Cornyn. Has not heard from Cruz yet. One of his friends got a nomination from Cornyn and he received a phone call.
 
DS got the Cornyn rejection in the mail today too but he has noms from Ratcliffe so he's good. Nothing from Cruz.
 
DS got the Cornyn rejection letter yesterday also. Nothing from Cruz yet. Has a congressional nom to USAFA.
 
My son received nomination to 3 academies from Congressman Ratcliffe, didn't get any from Senator Cornyn, and still waiting to hear from Senator Cruz.
 
DS received a phone call from Senator Cornyn around December 10 followed by a letter delivered December 21st confirming his nomination to USMA. His letter from Congressman Sam Johnson also arrived on December 21st confirming his nomination to USMA. No word from Senator Cruz yet.
 
DS received a call from Senator Cornyn and an email from Congressman Burgess (TX-26), but no word on Cruz. Confused parent here... Could someone answer this question for me? Does multiple nominations help toward an appointment or not at all. Thank you!

Having multiple noms is like having extra lottery tix to increase your chances. However, you still need to be 3Q qualified and deemed competitive in the eyes of the SAs. Hope this helps.

Ive posted it a few times. The lottery ticket is not really the perfect analogy. It allows you to compete multiple times for chance at an appointment. Your DS is only competing against the other individuals on the MOC's list of nominated candidates. Each MOC has a slate of candidates and typically the academy ranks those individuals. The congressional district is usually the easiest one to win as the truly qualified candidates are the smallest at the congressional district level. Your DS will compete against the other individuals nominated by Congressman Burgess. If he has the highest WCS, he will get the appointment. He will also compete against the nominees on Senator Cornyn's slate of ten. The highest ranked candidate on that slate will get the offer of appointment. If he does not win either of those slates and is fully qualified, he will move to the National waiting list where the next 150 or so ranked candidates are offered an appointment.
 
Great, thank you for the help! Also, I have one more question, sorry! DS had to request a waiver due to prior back problems(don't exist anymore) but has a note from his orthopedic doctor stating that the problem has been resolved. Additionally, he did very well on his CFA which helps prove his physical capability is not impaired. The academy called us and told us they had already put him through the waiver process in early December, but we are not sure how we find out if he is waived. Also, if he is, does that make him 3Q'd (assuming he is already 2 Q'd) Thanks again!
 
Your DS does not request a waiver, it is done by the admissions office of each academy. The biggest factor on if and when they request a waiver is how competitive they see you DS. I do not think anyone here has the crystal ball as to what each academy will ask to see in regards to remedial information to process the waiver. Last year, DS had a DQ for history of cataracts. We made the follow up appointments and had he see a real doctor that stated they were not an issue and was just waiting on the system to add the request. The day she got the official letter from her Doctor, USMA had approved he waiver without any additional information.
