Texas Nominations Thread

Great, thank you for the help! Also, I have one more question, sorry! DS had to request a waiver due to prior back problems(don't exist anymore) but has a note from his orthopedic doctor stating that the problem has been resolved. Additionally, he did very well on his CFA which helps prove his physical capability is not impaired. The academy called us and told us they had already put him through the waiver process in early December, but we are not sure how we find out if he is waived. Also, if he is, does that make him 3Q'd (assuming he is already 2 Q'd) Thanks again!

He should email his Regional Coordinator (RC). They will tell him the status of the waiver.

Still crickets with Senator Cruz. Anyone heard from Cruz's office ?

I merged the Texas threads into one. There is no need for multiple threads for the same state.

My son rec'd a call at school yesterday from Cruz' office. Good luck to your DS or DD. It is a grueling process and waiting is hard. Make sure you celebrate big when you find out!!
Congrats to your DS. Our DS sure would like to get the same call.

I received a nomination for the USNA on Dec, 23 out of TX-23 but the academy is yet to receive it. Is it unusual for it to take this long?

No, that appears to be normal. I received my nominations on the 12th and 15th of December respectively, and they appeared in my portal the 3rd and 5th of January respectively. This was for USMA, but my USNA (received on 15th Dec.) showed up on Jan. 3rd.

My son rec'd a congressional from TX-23 on the 17th of Dec and it is not showing up yet as well.

New mom here (1st post). My son has a JROTC Nomination to USMA, and a Congressional nomination (TX-23) to USMA and to USNA. Everything else is in and his file is complete. He is waiting now to hear from West Point. With no LOA, when should he expect to hear from them? Also, which nomination (to USMA) has a higher percentage of acceptance (JROTC or Congressional)? Thanks!

Well he could hear anytime from now until like 3 days before I day. I know that doesn't help much but it is true. Last year my DS was fortunate enough to be offered appointments to USAFA, USNA and USMA. He got a call from our congressman about the USAFA appointment in mid January, then an email from USNA followed by a BFE about Jan 22, then a really really nice BFE from West Point about a week after that. It was like boom, boom, boom. He was reeling. But all that is water under the bridge. He is starting his second semester as a plebe at USNA tomorrow. Good luck to your DS
