I just want to extend my thanks to this forum and the people here for the help that you guys offered me through my double-application process, especially last summer. I know that the chances of the general community remembering one passing member aren't high, but I want to thank you all nonetheless. To give a brief back story, I was an accepted cadet candidate for the Class of 2017 last year (my senior year of high school) until I tore my meniscus only a couple of weeks before R-Day last summer. I had no idea what I was supposed to do and I was absolutely crushed at the prospect of missing out on West Point, and came here asking for someone to point me in the right direction. It was primarily the help of this community that led me to report my situation through the proper channels and get in touch with the right people. I was still disqualified for the year and the Class of 2017, but I did secure an LOA and a chance to reapply for this year's class. It was quite a ride, but yesterday my portal was updated with my offer of appointment, which (of course) I immediately accepted.
Celebrating my re-appointment is not why I made this thread, though. I want to express my appreciation for this community and each of the many people who offered me help and advice from last summer as I thought my life plan was collapsing all the way to now. I honestly don't know where I would be now if I had not received the help and guidance that I did here. Whether or not anyone remembers doing so, those who helped me had a huge impact on my circumstances, and I am extremely grateful for that. I know that replying over and over to the same "do I have a chance" threads and countless similar questions gets redundant and trying, but I think it's important to know that you are making a difference in real people's lives. So thank you all again, and please don't stop helping us clueless candidates.
