Is the Overlook the lodge at Bear Mountain? Hopefully it's the rennovated one, if it is...had a friend who stayed at Bear Mtn....it was nasty.

Really? The other place my dad considered was the Holiday Inn Express. Is that a better choice? The site says it's 5 minutes away and it has a breakfast bar.

I have not stayed at the Overlook, but have been to the park (very nice!). My friend stayed there last fall, but that was prior to the renovations. The reviews post-renovation are good... The Holiday Inn is nice and it's close.

Since the topic has gone a little off course already... If I wanted to visit NYC after my overnight visit, where exactly would I tell the cab to take me? What wouild be a good place to start my "tour" of NYC? Best places to visit? Etc...

The Holiday Inn Express is nice. We stayed there a couple of times. It is close, they have a really nice breakfast and a pool. It gets really pricey for big weekends.

Well, we decided to just do the overlook. Anything closer is booked or super expensive, so we'll risk it. The reviews since the renovations seem okay. I don't care. As long as there's a place for me lay awake all night thinking about the next morning and unable to sleep, that's fine by me.
