I was just curious if anybody in this forum has any knowledge regarding the 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment. I will be matriculating at VMI this month on an Army ROTC scholarship, and I have been doing research on what type of career in the Army I would want once I commission. I discovered the 319th Airborne Field Artillery regiment and found myself intrigued; I never knew an airborne field artillery regiment even existed. It sounds like something I'd like to be a part of, but I can't seem to find much information about required training, among other things, to become a part of the regiment. If anyone knows anything, I would appreciate answers to the following questions:

How competitive is it to gain a position as an officer in this regiment, as opposed to other areas of the Army?

What type of training is required of the personnel within the regiment?

What steps can I take while at VMI to prepare myself for possible employment in this regiment (I would assume that it would be wise to take advantage of summer Airborne training, maybe join the VMI Cadet Battery)?

Any information regarding my questions will be very much appreciated.
