Hello everyone!

I am glad I found a site like this! I would like as much feedback on my question as possible, do I have what it takes? I am currently a sophomore in high school, actively seeking acceptance into either West Point or the Naval Academy. Here we go: I currenly hold a 3.9 unweighted GPA taking advanced classes in english and math. My next two years hold challenging classes in all subjects.
When it comes to extra curricular. I am an active member in Future Community and Career Leaders of America, I am president of a political action group in my school, and an active member in the state and national club. (seeking leadership positions in both) I am a member of my county's political group. I am class president, a member of students for a better tomorrow, student council, church youth group, concert choir, show choir, 2 time tri-state honors choir, Elected Young Ambassador of the city, coach the 8th grade traveling basketball team, For a change of heart student elected peer mentor, board member of our districts Health and Wellness Comittee, and I was accepted into my state's seminar for outstanding sophomore leaders (maximum of 1 per district)

I am a three sport athlete: Football, Basketball, and Track
(Freshman MVP for track)

Additional info: I always keep a picture of my bed with me so I don't forget what it looks like.

You are off to great start. Keep up the fine work. Please remember though that the SA's take a hard look at ACT/SAT scores. These test results help "level the playing field" when it comes to comparing candidates. Take these test often, and seriously.

The other things you can do are apply to the various SA summer programs. Interested in engineering? The USNA STEM progam is still open.

Have you checked out the USMA webpage for Sophomores?

http://admissions.usma.edu/pros_cadets_sophs.html

Between your Junior and Senior years both academies offer Summer programs.
going to one of these will give you a better insight to the academy (and won't hurt your chances for an appointment later).

Hey thanks! Great information! Do service academies have a preference on what standardized test I take? (ACT,SAT)

I doubt it. I took both and ended up doing better on the ACT. You should probably take each at least twice. Remember, SAs take the best testing score. If you do well on the SAT but not on the ACT which you had sent in earlier, don't worry about it.
