I am a female and I have a pre knob visit at the citadel this week. I was wondering what clothing I should wear? I know it says khakis/nice jeans and a polo (or equivalent). What are the other options?

If you wish to do well at an SMC, it is best not to be an "exception to the rule."

It says Khakis and polo. Compliance is highly recommended.

Totally awesome! I’m sold on the school. Thank you for all the responses. A lot of people wore nice jeans and button up shirts and some girls wore cardigans. I showed up in khakis and a polo, so it doesn’t really matter.

My DS is visiting at the end of the month. Did you receive info prior to the visit telling you what to wear, what to bring, etc?

Yeah, they gave me information the day of the visit. That was super inconvenient because I’m from Massachusetts, so if I had forgotten something or didn’t have what I needed I would have been in trouble. You also needed to print a parking pass which was attached in the email I got the same day as my visit, so I had to go to the nearby staples in Charleston to print it out. The email I got said to bring a sleeping bag, a pillow, and toiletries. Some Pre-Knobs actually showered, so if your child is interested in that bring a towel and shower shoes. There were only around 6 girls including myself when I went, a lot of them didn’t wear khakis and a polo, but they did dress nicely. Hope this helped!

Thank you. I think I will have my DS reach out to the Pre-Knob Overnight Visit coordinator and ask for info as he is coming from Washington State and needs to know prior to the day off seeing as he is flying in the night before :) Not sure about the sleeping bag and pillow, I guess I will have him pack those in his suitcase ??

My son did an overnight at VMI and we had to fly. He packed a light sleeping bag and camping pillow in a carryon. He also had a toiletries bag and a towel. If he asks to do an overnight at the Citadel we will have to do the same thing As we are from Tennessee. I would also bring a rain jacket as the kids who were overnighting were standing outside during morning formation and it was raining. So check the weather. We toured The Citadel in the summer but have not done an overnight there. Currently accepted to both VMI and Citadel.
