A social media post by a Citadel cadet

Two years ago today I received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy about one month later I would receive a nomination to the United States Military Academy. Two months after that I would receive letters of denial first from West Point and then from Navy. One stressful month later I received a full NROTC Scholarship for The Citadel.

Today I can sit here in South Carolina and can't help but be thankful for all the things I didn't get.

Congratulations. What's next after graduation? Totally understand if you would rather not reveal your commissioning dream list. Good luck!

There's a country song about everything... ;)

These days I really know how true that statement is. My 10 year old has developed and obsession with Blake Shelton and I'm sure "Alexa" is tired of her asking to "Play Blake Shelton".

Grew up (in Texas) loving all country music. Kind of got away from it over the past 10-15 years. My DW and I got "reinvigorated" with it watching Ken Burns' documentary a few months back. My wife wanted to know how I knew all the words to all those old country songs...

"C'mon Hon, those were the songs of my life!"
