The cocktail thread (I blame the Rona) - post yours !

SAT question: Sierra Mist is to Crown Royal as _________ is to Woodford Reserve. A. Makers Mark. B. Knob Creek C. Basil Hayden’s D. Early Times

Wow -- how did I miss this thread over the weekend... One of my favorite topics:

First,,
Love those dive bars. I still twitch a bit when I remember too vividly my first visit to the little dive bar/restaurant/etc that was just outside the back gate to NAS Roosy Roads Puerto Rico.
* The one where they sold "dog on a stick" outside ? (When i have time, I will tell the story of the TorpEx we flew out of Roosey Roads).

Favorite drinks -

Guinness -for strength; Jameson - for courage. (Hat tip - Neptunus Lex; '83 grad who had a great miltary/aviation blog until passing a few years back).
I love both !

Also a fan of Woodford...neat or rocks.

I believe we're talking about the same place. At some point, I might have to spill why I still twitch.

Save me from anything made with either Fresca or Mountain Dew. (need emoji for kicking over beehive)

One of the books I read about the war in Viet Nam (maybe The 13th Valley?) mentioned that they used to put their cots up on stacks of cases of Fresca to keep them off the wet ground because no one would drink it. It was one of the early diet sodas. (remember TAB and No-Cal?). Pretty bad. Surprisingly, the modern formulation of Fresca is much better. I bet it would go GREAT with vodka. But then, I am not very discriminating when it comes to what I will drink

I thought surely my disparaging The Dew would throw chum into the water. That’s one of those that people either love or hate. Ah well. Perhaps we have moved on from sugared soda. I occasionally drink a fountain Dr. Pepper, a childhood favorite, and call it dessert.

I liked Fresca, Ting, and Wink but Squirt is the clear winner of the grapefruit sodas.

Any mixture of quality alcohol and soft drinks is wrong in my opinion ..neat or rocks :)!
(One exception -- Goslings Black Seal and Ginger Beer --the trademarked Dark and Stormy. particularly when served in Bermuda --- two of my favorite things !)

I used to drink cheap Scotch (I'm talking about the swill that Inverhouse makes) mixed with ginger ale, before I got promoted to civilian. Also, the dry Rob Roy (with olives) was a favorite 1st drink (with "the men", before I left the waitress $50 to buy their next round, sans me).

I am inordinately fond of a Dark and Stormy.

Put Level on West St. on your next Annapolis To Do list. Well-crafted cocktails and small plates. They make their own ginger beer in house, as well as lemonade and other quality ingredients. I just enjoy reading this:

...On ice. Saving the Elijah Craig small batch for when DS gets his appointment notice.🤞

Today, I failed my first online session of “gentle” yoga. I didn’t know I’d have to bend my knees or move my hips. Glad I didn’t buy the mat. I guess it’s time to talk about those joint replacements but not until I finish my drink. My elbow still appears to be in good shape. Do they make a Downward Dog cocktail? Why, yes, it appears they do:

– 2 Ounces Gin
– 2 Ounces Grapefruit Juice
– 2 Ounces Coconut Water
– Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
Among the funniest things I've read on these forums. Love your sense of humor and delivery.
