The cocktail thread (I blame the Rona) - post yours !

So, I “liked” your post, @Dad_2024, but not because a hurricane is heading your way. I simply approve of your method of facing the storm. Solid choice. Cheers!
Thanks @VelveteenR! Not too worry, I'm pretty sure we won't see anything that resembles a hurricane where we are, just some remnants and wet weather like we typically see in the fall. Many years ago when we were young and stationed at mother earth's armpit (Ft polk, LA), hurricane parties were the rule. So I guess our inspiration for clearing space in the fridge and practicing environmental responsibility is solidly rooted in those good times from years ago. Skies are getting thicker here and a little breeze is picking up, and I'm sure we'll be weathering this just fine.
Cheers to all!

If you didn't have a Mekhong Whisky, a Singhae Beer, Water Buffalo Steaks and Coconut Ice Cream while sitting on a deck on the banks of the Mekhong you weren't there. Give us some weird drinks or food from around the world that you have tried (liked or rejected). Spoiled Camel Milk and rotten Duck Eggs from Manilla don't count.

I had "mung mung" in South Korea. "Mung Mung" is the sound a Korean dog makes when it barks (at least that's what is sounds like to them). Sort of like "woof woof". To be fair, I was drinking Soju bombs. The whole memory makes me shudder a bit, even now.

Criadillas as a tapa in tiny bars in Spain. Umm. Maybe not a favorite.

Chipirones en su tinto. Fact: leads to blackened teeth. If you’ve had enough vino tinto, it’s all good.

Singapore and Hong Kong street food markets, unknown items. My general rule, I will try anything once, but do not tell me what it is beforehand.

Tapas are always good. Can't find a good Tapas Bar near me. Mung Mung sounds like right before hugging the throne. Buying fried chicken off the street from a vendor (local Howard Johnsons) with a charcoal burner on one end of a pole and a bucket of chicken parts on the other and trying to tell him you didn't want the feet for your 25 cents.

Nothing more needs to be said...other than I wonder (philosophically of course) how many O2 tanks went dry on flights the next day...

Here in AZ, we can now legally turn to drugs. Now I can back off on the alcohol. ;)

Of course, since alcohol is a drug, as is nicotine, you've already been able to turn to drugs for quite some time. Now you can just turn to more drugs, if that's your jam.

I’ve had to stop watching ‘news’.

Tomorrow as soon as I am done with a test, I am going to merge the bacon and the cocktail thread in a refreshing beverage. Somehow someway.
It is too stressful in AZ.

Two neighbor families and we have been having regular cul-de-sac happy hours. Chairs extra well-spaced, no shared snacks, BYOC.

We decided to experiment with a new cocktail last week. Bacon, vodka, hard cider, maple syrup. Crazy but very good and autumnal.

I debated whether to post this, with a straight face, in Academy and Military News, or, with only-sailors-and-Marines pride in Humor for my Navy and Marine Corps friends, or tucked away in the Everything Drawer - but I felt the Cocktail Thread would be a good home for it, especially because it involves spirits, military innovation and a good cause. You CAN have the need for speed AND whiskey at the same time.

When it comes out...I'm in. May have to call upon Dad_2024 to pick some up for me. Or maybe a bottle of their rye to start.
