The Everything Drawer - Everyone has one, right? (post anything - within the rules)

This picture was taken ten years ago at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A friend just sent it to me. The Photographer was on his way to work and was in the right place at the right time. He sent a copy to the 101st and presented a copy to the widow of the WWII veteran.

"No man will be a sailor who has contrivance enough to get himself into a jail; for being in a ship is being in a jail, with the chance of being drowned... a man in a jail has more room, better food, and commonly better company." Samuel Johnson

We have the chubbiest squirrels and skinniest birds in Northern Virginia.

My Scottie let's me know when they're out there and then I let her go out and "play" with them. Simpson's legs "spin" on the sunroom floor before she gets enough traction to get outside. Looks like a cartoon. So far the squirrels win the race to the tree. Here she is standing guard by that very tree.FB_IMG_1623591296989.jpg

Never heard of a St. Joseph's Shark (Callorhinchus capensis or "Cape Elephantfish"), before this:

DH rescued a Yellow-Billed Cuckoo from the porch yesterday afternoon that had flown into one of our upper picture windows.
He sent a "snapchat" to our two DDs, with a comment about "not dead yet". Our youngest DD immediately thought he was leading to a pun or joke related to Monty Python.
The good news is that after about an hour or so of recovery time on one of our tables, the bird regained its senses and flew into a nearby tree. Here's a picture...

The first time I pinned one of these reflective tape squares to my left shoulder I said, So you're telling me this little square inch of tape will keep me from being hit by an AC-130 when it's pouring down a ton of hot lead? Edit: the pic is from a BBC story and I'm not in it.

Some ear candy for fans, old and newly come to appreciation, of Linda Ronstadt, below. I was creating a low-key playlist for a long and slow rowing routine, and had some fun adding in ballads by favorite female vocalists.
So sad she has lost her voice due to PSP.

A concrete truck lost its mixer barrel way back in the 50s sometime and it was just left there because it was too heavy to move and now nobody wants to move it. Over the years, various local people have painted it to look like a space capsule and now it is a tourist attraction.

Imagine the archaeologists’ speculation in 500 years.
