So excited to see the movie! My daughter said the entire Corp of Cadets, plus the OCS students, all went last night to a "mandatory fun" pre-screening. Afterwards she texted her two-word review: "Very Disney".

DH and I plan to go this weekend. Anyone else?

" Very Disney" as in ......??? We'll see it tonight.

LurkingQuietly, Very Disney" as in ......???

Well, that is all she said. And she would laugh uncontrollably if anyone suggested she actually, you know, CALL HER MOTHER to discuss it. But if I had to guess, she meant it was formulaic, yet well-done and feel-good none the less.

So, reviews I have read say the story of the rescue is terrific, but the film is weighed down with a clunky and unexciting romance story line. How can romance be unexciting with Chris Pine???

I work in a middle school library where we have the young-adult version of the book. There really wasn't a romance in that at all. Was there a love story in the original?

Actually Pine's Character was already married and she was home with the flu at the time. Hollywood had to get some romance in there. Most of the movie is pretty spot on. Few minor alterations.

Saw the movie today. It was excellent in my assessment. Heroic efforts of selfless coast guard.

Saw it tonight. Loved it. My girlfriend and I were able to visit the sets and watched a scene being filmed, so it was too cool to see it all come alive. I just shot an email to two of the folks involved with this movie. I think they did a great job telling the story and they've created an instant Coast Guard classic which everyone can be proud of.
