The Institute will be heard from Today

Last "history teacher running wild on the internet" post for now, I promise.

For the Civil War history buffs out there, a great free resource is an entire course by Yale Professor David Blight on the Civil War and Reconstruction (available for free and downloadable on iTunes). Lots on the politics and culture in both North and South leading up the war, some good stuff on the war itself, and interesting insights on Reconstruction and the memory of the war (Blight is the author of the "Race and Reunion" book I mentioned).

Here's the listing on the Yale Open Courses page: http://oyc.yale.edu/history/hist-119

Academyfriend nice post I will check that out since I am close and might sneak in to the classroom.

"General, I have no Division" "Pickett" Longstreet redeemed himself many times but Pickett always gets the blame. Although Longhstreet walked in full uniform at the reunion and no one even thought of challenging him.
