FWIW - This info. was in an e-mail sent to DS yesterday from his BGO:

Date: April 13, 2012 4:32:36 PM EDT

J-,

I sent a message to LT C--- at USNA Admissions. I asked if the date, 4/15, had slipped for noticing of Appointments (and, I thought, of notifying everyone applying). Actually they do the Foundation schools AFTER the appointments are noticed. Of the 22 candidates on my list, all have been notified except for you (for FP) and another candidate, who is applying for the second year--from his freshman year at college. His status is "WL" (Wait List). So, perhaps they are consistent with the planned schedule. Will probably not hear back from the LT until Monday. Good luck!"

DS has received no TWE, no BFE. He has been informed along the way of his changing status from his BGO, USNA Admissions Counselor, and a USNA Coach via e-mail and phone calls.

Still in the Late in the Game Wait Club...
 and  all at the same time!

It is I again, and yet another day with nothing in the mail. We have heard nothing from our BGO. Wondering if I should have my DS contact him. The 15th of April is tomorrow.
So does that mean he may get something from the Foundation School? and If so, what is the Foundation School? Is it NAPS?

Any Clues? What about a reply from our Forum Moderators? Should we contact BGO or Admissions? Timeline is getting close for College Acceptance notifications.

The Foundation prep program is somewhat similar to, but separate from, NAPS. It is similar in that the selection process is handled by Admissions, and those who accept the scholarship do have some assurances re consideration for an appointment upon successfully completing the prep school term. The significant aspect to keep in mind is that receiving an offer for this program means that Admissions is interested in having the recipient in the Brigade, but for some reason does not see that happening in the current class. The Foundation has a roster of prep schools that participate in its program, and the tuitions range fairly widely. The scholarship is a participatory scholarship, meaning that it is based upon the family's ability to contribute to the tuition. In the past I have heard of as many as 80 such scholarships being tendered; I also have heard of as few as 50 being tendered in a year. It is a good deal; I have had several candidates take advantage of the opportunity and be successful.

The letter I received for the Foundation offer said somewhere around 50 slots. I have yet to hear back from the Academy since then back in February.

Hey 1964BGO - WONDERFUL NEWS!!! DS received a call this morning from USNA Admissions to let him know he is being offered a Foundation slot!!!! An e-mail from the LT who called DS from Admissions confirming the phone call!!! What a ride this has been and no doubt will continue to be!!!! Thanks for the info. and insights you've shared on this forum - we are very grateful!!!

No News is good news...maybe

E-mailed BGO and found out that DS is still in the running, nothing has been decided according to his portal of information. He said to hang in there and we should know something this week.

It is so hard waiting. Good luck and congratulations to your DS...Kar57. Thanks for starting this thread.

Hopeful and proud Mom! Either way solid plan B in place, just need to know something quickly or plan B won't be an option either!

Have a great and blessed day everyone!

TChase - I am wishing you and your DS GOOD LUCK throughout this week of waiting!!! I know that for anyone still in the game at this point in April is a HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT...one to be very very proud of no matter the outcome - it speaks to the intestinal fortitude of the candidate and the candidate's family!! It speaks as well of these young people's honor and integrity in continuing to pursue a goal even when it "seems" all odds may be against him or her. I would gladly follow any of these young people as they find their places in serving and leading this country!! Keep us posted!!!

Well, I was hoping to hear SOMETHING by now but nothing arived in the mailbox again today.

Is anyone else still waiting to hear something. I know that I am not the only one.

Not sure what to do.... I know people are already waitlisted for an appointment and NAPS and others are receiving foundation scholarships.....so where does that leave my poor DS. I am going to have him go ahead and accept to plan B, fortuneately we don't have to put any money down for tuition. (He has full tuition scholarship) Granted his qualififcations weren't as grand as others have posted, but well enough within guidelines to be accepted and with a Nom that makes it even more possible. Not hoping for an appointment at this late date, but honestly just don't know what to think. Just would like some information. Not sure if I should email Admissions Counselor or not. It feels as though he got lost somewhere in the process.

TChase,

Have your son email the admissions counselor. My DS's counselor was great and always responded quickly.

But he did the emailing. Good Luck.

I agree, I would definitely have my son email him. He has emailed him in the past. Thanks for the info.

My DS emailed his admissions counselor and was given a telephone number to the Nominations and Appointments office. He called and was told that he has been waitlisted for the Academy. They told him that about 200 have been waitlisted. Now he has to decide if he wants to remain on the waitlist. They had mailed the letter out over a week ago, and has not been received. They also had emailed him but he has not been able to access his email account because it has been blocked due to someone else using his account to send out spam mail.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update.
