The Military Feel Good Thread - Post anything

I wonder if Chuck ever got a dig in on the old man, getting that extra star. What am I thinking? They were both Marines.
Of course, he did!
Of course he did. Remember when AUM Shinrikyo bumbled that Sarin release in the Tokyo subway in 1995?

President Clinton called the JCS and their cats and dogs together and said, "Yaa'll haave anythang that kin respond to somethang like that? <Clinton drawl and accent>

All the generals and admirals tuned to look at each other hoping one of them would speak up and wishing they had the answer.

The CMC bent over the table and said, "We do sir." "Welll, awright there, I figgered we'd have somethin like that," said POTUS.

On the drive back to the Navy Annex, General Krulak's cats and dogs said, "but, but, sir, we don't have anything like that."

The Commandant said, "We will by next week. Make it happen."

I was at Lejeune then. All units were giving up Marines and Corpsmen to form a unit they called Chemical Biological Incident Response Force. CBIRF drew gear and vehicles from units all across the base. All personnel had to report with their TO weapons and gear. They were playing MOPP 4 football in the middle of the day.

S-3 called me in and said, they need one more IDC. I said, they already have the senior corpsman billet filled so I'll pass.

Six years later when they moved to Indian Head, I left BUMED 15 months early to take the Senior Chief billet at CBIRF.

Very cool story. From QMC USN to ship's master with Military Sealift Command.

I've stated here before that I retired from MSC HQ and loved almost every minute of it. I was the shipboard medical programs manager and had worldwide assets and could go on a trip anywhere in the world, almost, any time I wanted, almost. We took on the Supply class oilers from Big Navy while I was there which included trips to the state of Washington and Earle, New Jersey. We accepted new construction which meant a trip to New Orleans. I went to San Diego and Norfolk often. I went to Corpus Christi to shoot civilian mariners with small pox and anthrax. Our RORO ships onloaded the vehicles of the 4th Infantry Division. I got to cap off 26 years with an individual augmentation trip to a foreign land which is every corpsman's dream while on shore duty.

USS Iowa - interview w/a former Iowa Captain!

The Navy and Marine Corps Medal for sure for these fine sailors. I love the fact they stopped to plan, and the senior sailor took time to do some on-the-spot training about water rescue for the SEAL recruit. Great head work.

I noticed that after posting it. I stole it from one of my FB sites.
I won’t say where or when, but my DH was not allowed to join a shore installation’s Officers’ Wives Club back in the day. Female officers were allowed to join, but no men, any flavor. I pointed out that naval installation regulations clearly did not allow any unofficial group or non-profit to meet on-base or use base facilities if they discriminated against any group for race, gender, etc. I was told to drop it. 🙄 This was one of those battles I ignored and moved on to others.

At least we have moved on to Spouse Clubs.
