The Military Feel Good Thread - Post anything

She’s smiling on the inside.
The new Devil Dog was thinking, What the f*** was I thinking and now I have to clean this d*** rifle so I can turn it in without the armorer harassing me because they found carbon in the most obscure part of the rifle or they want me to add up the first 6 numbers of the serial number and divide it by the 7th before I can turn it in ... :D

Daughter did Summer Cruise on USS Bataan. While they were in port for Fleet Week in Boston we took the tour. What really impressed me was the medical facilities on board.

Before we brought the hospital ships back the LHA was the Largest Hospital Afloat.

The LHD would I guess be Largest Hospital Deployed.

A secondary mission of the big deck amphib is as a casualty receiving treatment ship (CRST).

Check this out.

Do officers participate in this? Been curious about that.
Um yes.

When I crossed for the first time we had way more people to be initiated then we had shellbacks and there were a number of "obstacles" to overcome. Most of the crew were made to do just a few of them. Officers and Chiefs had to do ALL of them.

First class cruise, we crossed the arctic circle on our way to the North Pole. Half the crew were blue noses, half were warmfaces, including the CO and XO. We were herded into the torpedo room to await judgement by Boreas Rex (Ops O) up in the galley. Please also note that we stored the eggs for the cruise by the torpedo tubes.

The captain walked in, saw everyone standing around waiting, picked up an egg and said, "Follow me". Walked into the galley and let fly.

We were cleaning up egg for the next two weeks.

ASROC shot from the Mighty Battle Frigate Bowen. Not my pic and I wasn't onboard when this was fired. I've seen one on another ship. It makes you all tingly inside to see such things.
