The Military Feel Good Thread - Post anything

ASROC shot from the Mighty Battle Frigate Bowen. Not my pic and I wasn't onboard when this was fired. I've seen one on another ship. It makes you all tingly inside to see such things.

I think that we fired 6 of them on my first ship. One per launcher rail (2 twin armed launchers) during builders sea trials to test out the missile launcher and foundations. Then two more, one forward and one aft during our Combat Systems trials and those were against actual targets.

Wasn't sure where to post this so this will do...

"Feel Good" today?? YEP! Schools out; graduation, a REAL graduation, was last night. A lot of emotions, hugs, tears, etc., seeing the young men and women that I've been blessed to have in my program for the past four years...take that next step.

And then this morning? I got to do it all over again, virtually.

I watched a young man, now a USMC 2Lt, graduate from the US Naval Academy and commission into the USMC. He was in my program for four years, became corps commander. Then the TWE from USNA...however, he won an NROTC scholarship. He took that to a VERY good school "back East" and we worked on his USNA application, Round Two. He received his BFE...and has never looked back.

It's things like this that make all those 0500 alarm clocks to get to the campus by 0615 worth it.

Bravo Zulu PJ!!

D-Day + 1: And the military nurses were there, serving alongside doctors and medics. It’s worth following the embedded links to other stories. The Veterans History Project is a wonderful rabbit hole to fall willingly down.

And while I’m on a roll, here are two related things:
If you don’t know about ADM Michelle Howard, USN (Ret), as a current historical figure and door-buster, you should. This is Wikipedia, but accurate:

And, how cool is it that the USNA Drum & Bugle Corps plays an original piece in her honor, the ADM Howard Soca? Enjoy.
