The Process?

Above Buff81 posted a lengthy note on Admissions.

Part of it read:

- once your file is complete (all icons are green on your candidate portal), it will reviewed for qualification by 3 sets of eyes: your RC, another RC and and a member of the Admissions committee
- when your file has gone through this qualifying process, you will receive a letter telling you of your status

My son tells me that his icons have been green for several weeks, but that he hasn't received a letter confirming qualification to date. Normal? Abnormal requiring some action on his part? Or is the above inaccurate?

Thanks

I think receiving the letter varies a lot by RC. My son had all green checks by the end of September. At around the end of October he was told by his MALO that he was ranked as "admissable" (3Q). He finally received a letter stating that he was 3Q in late December.

scottgd,

To provide you with some timing perspective, my DS completed his file (all green check marks) on June 30, 2011. He was DoDMERB Qualified on July 12, 2011. He received the Letter of Qualification (Academic, Medical, Physical/CFA) on Oct. 31, 2011. (DS was very honored and grateful to receive an Offer of Appointment on Nov. 16, 2011)

If your DS completed his file several weeks ago, it may take some time to receive a letter from his RC. There is a possiblity that a letter may not be sent -- it is up to the RC and relative to timing with offer letters, etc..

I would suggest he contact his RC and discuss his current status. The RC's are very helpful!

Good luck to your DS! I hope he can join my son for USMA Class of 2016!:thumb:

Go ARMY!

Good responses from the above posters and I hope that their experiences with the timing of being qualified is comforting.

A couple of scenarios could apply here.

The 3 check process can take a few weeks especially during busy times (which would be now) in the Admissions Dept.
Could be that the 3 checks process has not been completed.

Although, we have been told that candidates will receive this letter, many candidates on this forum have stated that they never received one even though they were deemed qualified.

If you have a MALO/FFR, you can contact them and ask if your son has been 3Q'd yet. If you don't have a MALO/FFR, then you are more than welcome to contact the RC.
The reason that I suggest contacting the local liaison first is because you may hear back sooner from them than the RC as the RCs are very busy right now.

scottgd,

My DS had completed his file including DoDMERB by July 27. While he has consistently kept in contact with his FFR we did not hear anything from West Point no Letter of Qualification or anything else until about a week ago when he was notified that he was receiving an appointment to the class of 2016. Two days later we received it in our mailbox.
