When looking through the odd college rankings(worst food- well i noticed that thread too, worst dorm, etc), I see that MMA is unfortunately ranked at the top of near the top. Do you guys feel like these rankings are accurate based your experiences?

Personally i am considering king's point due to its education specializing in various nautical disciplines and allows commissioning into all the service branches

A lot of the companys have been revamped/upgraded .
I think you are dealing w/dated information.
However, be sure to examine their website, and pursue an on-campus visit... Seeing is believing.

No comment on the food ranking... may be too early to really tell this year.

There's also a certain pride in having "the worst" whether it be food or dorms or being the most unhappy. I suspect that the mids may adjust their answers to surveys in the interests of maintaining notoriety.

Given the reaction of my DS when hearing the #1 status was lost, I have to agree with you KPMum2012. He seems determined to regain the notoriety when he gets back to campus!

I have seen the new, revamped dorm rooms and they seem very nice indeed. Sorry about the lost in ranking. 5th and Band Company can still hold that status since their dorms have not been remodeled. LOL

I was once told, by a graduate, that those ranking surveys are sent out only to the plebe class, whom we all know, are 95% dissatisfied with everything about life at KP. One would guess that if the survey were sent to the 1st Class Mids the rankings would most likely be higher....:shake::shake::wink::wink:

I have it on good authority that 5th co. is "awesome!" (Except for the lack of AC)

KP'ers revel in the ability to make things sound horrible. Granted the food is generally not that great and the dorms used to be what I would consider to be "dated"; however, I wouldn't trade my experience in the no A/C world at all.

Also, what's more important: Academic rankings, or worrying about how great the dorm is?

I highly doubt that even the survey was/is sent to everyone vice only plebes that the rankings would be much higher than they are relative to either the food or the dorm rooms. The facts are:

1) the food hasn't been very good for a long, long time and you only realize it/see it as even more so after your sea year if you've been a a ship that was/is a "good feeder" like say a Matson Lines vessel, etc.

2) The dorms - the remodeled revamped dorm rooms are still small, in fact smaller than the older rooms.... and don't forget that at times Plebes can be three to a room....

When you compare these two items to schools that work at such things - whether public - like say James Madison University here in VA or Private where the conditions wouldn't generally be something that has been seen in a long, long time, it's not surprising that for these items KP is where it is. Further as noted the corporate personality of the Regiment is and always has been to take pride in having things a little tougher than others - whether it's pointing out that USMMA is the only one where Plebes have cleaning stations in the manner that they do (Heads, Showers, etc.) to the ranking of worst college food in America....

As far as things that First Classmen would likely rank higher than their peers - career prospects, and such things would indeed be higher, I think, based on data from First and Upper Classmen than Plebes.....

No data here - just my gut feelings....
