The Reapplying Club

I can't belive another year of stalking these sites! Oh well DS rec'd the "qualified not selected but....if a spot becomes available...." Have no idea what that means for him. Does that mean he might get one but the chances are slim? Can he still be a Prep SChool nomination? How does that work? He is piolot qualified if that makes a difference. He is accepting his AROTC 4 year scholarship and reapplying to AFA next year.

Yes, pilot qualification is a major factor in deciding falcon scholarships. The academy ranks all the appointees who do not receive appointments and then sends that to the falcon foundation and they go through and offer ( in order) falcon scholarships to those that are pilot qualified to fill the number of available scholarships. The generally offer no more than 100. I received my TWE last year around the last week in March and was suprised when I received a falcon offer towards the end of April. Once the offers come they send out more than available slots so they are first come first serve. So once offered one, fill out the forms asap!!
Blackbird, this reminds me, if your DS receives a falcon spot, contact the Durbecks immediately. When I got my falcon I emailed Mrs. D and she made a call to ensure a falcon slot was saved for me before I had time to fill out the paper.
Best of luck Jagabiti!!

Hey everyone. I haven't been on these forums for my whole Spring Break but came back to check up on things and to see who else got a TWE. I have the one that many people are getting, it says the word "qualified" in it and says I've been waitlisted. I wanted to start a thread like this, and I'm glad to see it's done already. I don't feel alone in wanting to reapply.

I feel silly for never really looking into NWP. I know very little about it. Does it have it's own application? If yes, is it too late to fill out that application?

Do you guys think we should throw together a numbered list of names of people that want to reapply? Like the appointments thread. It'll be an easy way for us to see who else is reapplying, and an easy way for the HS Juniors this year to see what they're up against :thumb:.
I mean that half-jokingly though, not trying to create cliques or division, we're applicants again just like the juniors. I just like the idea of a list...

We can do #-name-plan B school-ROTC?-scholarships?-number of reapplication attempt if more than 1
I'll start if anyone else wants to copy it and add their name. Then as prep school offers go out and waitlisted people get spots, we can change our info or cross the name out.

Sounds swell to me! By listing it like this some people may discover others who are going through a plan B with the same plan as you!

Hello Stalker Friends!
Greetings from Key West.....I am here on a Ladies Get Away....DH phoned yesterday to say that the expected TWE "QNV" had arrived. I am so glad that we have a new club! DS will be reapplying and I think having a year of AFROTC and college will be great. Can you believe that the application process opens online in just a few months! AAAHHHHH!!!! Glad we will all still be together.......and MUCH more educated about the process thanks to our subject matter experts Pima, Flieger, Christcorp and others.

Just got my TWE form the AFA. It did say that "While the selection process is essentially complete, we will notify you immediately if you are chosen to fill a vacancy because another candidate declined an appointment." I am guessing this means I got wait listed, correct? Does anyone know how many candidates got wait listed this year?

More good info on NWP tlangford. Feel free to keep it coming. Of course DS is disappointed that he got the TWE, but he is looking forward to spending the summer with his girl friend and then going to NWP in the fall. As to my location, we currently live in Louisville, KY although I grew up in California (Santa Barbara County). We have family in Monrovia which is not far from NWP so I am anticipating that DS will have a chance to hang with them some.

Hopefully a re-applier can answer this! I know the DoDMERB physical remains for another year and that I have to do the CFA as well as all of the online forms again. However, I do not know how this will work as I am applying as a freshman in college. Regarding grades, do they simply assess my first semester college grades? will they even want my SAT/ACT since I will be in college? In a more broad sense, how much of what I did in highschool will be seen for the second time? My knowledge about the GPA is that the college one will replace my HS one.

I am listing everything I need to participate in to improve certain areas of my application such as AFROTC so I am set in that area, I just need some advice on the academics so my PAR can be flawless when the USAFA sees it.

Ok Blackbird since you asked for more, here it is! HAHA just kidding. Hm about the seeing his family. It states (on the falcon paper as well) that NWP is located in Santa Barbara which is somewhat of a 'trick' as we all called it last semester. It is in the mountain area of Redlands but it beautiful. We were at just above 5,000 ft elevation. And as for having time to see his relatives, there will be little. We had a few 'liberty' weekends, usually after the SAT, which we took every month. And the days are so busy and full that some days there is little time to call home, and not to mention the reception is terrible. When it comes closer I will tell you all who decided to go the wonderful spots to go for reception. Also, about the SAT and ACT, be prepared to pay for them every month (the ACT only 2)! We had to take them at every available ability which was so beneficial. I raised my SAT from about a 1500 to a 1900!! and my ACT from all mid 20s to at least all 33s! The instructors (all 5 of them) that we had are amazing people and are there to see us all improve and become the best we can be. Study skills and memorization will improve more than imaginable. I think that is a lot of info for now. Sorry if you ask about specifics I can say more but I could end up rambling.... Ryan I hope this gives you some insight to NWP i highly encourage it!!! but I am a bit bias....

Flyusa93--DoDMERB will send you a form to check if your health is the same and fill it out and send it back and they will tell you if you are still qualified, which unless you got injured you should be! As for grades, unless you are a falcon you have to do EVERYTHING the same. You will have to have your high school counselor resend your high school profile and such. As falcons we had the essays, teacher recs and ALO interview waved but all free agents and college students must do those. You will also have to send in a first semester college transcript. My file still says incomplete because my second semester college transcript cant be sent yet as school is still going so yours might do that next year as well, but they will still review your file.
So essentially, high school is still a large factor in reapplying. I recommend fly that if you can afford it try prep school. It will look much more impressive on your file as you are working on specifics in hopes of improving for the academy. But that is up to you.

Usafa class of 16 will be limited.

A third front of force management affects the cadet population, currently sitting at about 4,400. Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley and Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz have directed the Academy to reduce the cadet population to 4,000 by Oct. 1, 2012.

"Last year, we brought in about 1,285 members of the Class of '14," General Gould said. "This next class will be 1,120. The year after that will be 1,050. It's tough on our admissions people; it's going to be tough on athletics. It's going to have an impact on diversity.

This is just so sad! It is too bad that they can't take everyone that is qualified. I understand why, it's just too bad!:frown:

Our DS got the TWE also.

So, count me in on this new thread! I am headed to the mall today. Can anyone say CCCCHHHAAAARRRRGGGEEEE IIIIITTTT? My husband said it will be good therapy.

Talk with all of you again soon.

we're in too

DS also got the QNV. Hoping to do NWP and then UMD in the spring, or NMMI...on to class of 2016!

I feel so last minute for only starting to look at NWP now. I checked the curriculum and had a question. Does everyone take every class? Not to be "that guy" but taking that kind of math course seems like it would bore me to death, I'd just keep wishing it was calc 2. But based on my SAT scores, I could really use the vocab class and other reading stuff. I had 700-math 600-reading.
And also, is it too late to apply? I couldn't find a deadline anywhere, and I'm not sure if they're taking applications from HS juniors or seniors or both.
