The Role of Blue and Gold Officers

Some BGO's feel like they earn a notch on their belt when one of the candidates whom they've interviewed earns an appointment. I do not think this is the proper way to see their role. I believe that the BGO's responsibilities are limited to: 1. Answer any of the candidate's questions, 2. monitor a candidate's progress and 3. conduct the required BGO interview. I do not think it is their responsibility to "grease the wheels" for the candidate.

Agree 100%. A BGO isn't going to get you in, and certainly not our role to keep someone out. I do like it when I see one of my good candidates get an appointment, and pretty much keep it to myself if I see someone get admitted that I didn't think was as good a fit. Keep in mind, Admissions sees a whole lot more information on a Candidate than we see in a 1-2 hour interview.
