Question 2 is this: "State below in the space provided how you spend your time in a typical week during the school year. For Example, how many extra hours do you spend: at school, doing homework, engaged in athletic activities, engaged in extracurricular activities (i.e. clubs), engaged in volunteer work, or other (explain)."

I'm just curious as to the format they're looking for. Should I write it in an essay style (since it's under the "Essays" tab), or should I write it more as an outline. For example:

Monday:
5:00-6:30: Cross country practice.
7:00-2:00: School.
2:00-3:00: DECA Meeting.
3:30-5:30: Homework.
6:00-7:30: Basketball with friends.
7:30-8:15: Family dinner.
8:30-9:30: Schoolwork, research, etc.

I suggest your outline. The Board wants to read hundreds of applications as quickly as possible. An outline is easy to grasp what you are doing during the week. I would suggest telling them what DECA means (I don't know). I would also suggest outlining a couple of weekdays and one weekend day. I would refrain from outlining all 7 days.

I would recommend you do it as an essay. Paragraph one describe what you a typical weekday looks like (it changes as the sports seasons change, right?). "On a typical weekday during the school year I wake up about......" and go from there.

Paragraph 2 describe the various things you do on weekends. Meets/games, go watch other HS sports compete, work, spend time with friends, homework, etc.

Paragraph 3 conclusion and estimates of hours on various activities per the essay question request.

Good luck to you.

I would agree with the essay format as it better demonstrates your writing ability than an outline or chart.

My DD wrote that essay in paragraph format.

She wrote in general terms like from 8:15am to 3pm, I have classes. Depending on the season, I have practice from 3-5:30pm. In the fall, I have cross country practice. In the winter, I have basketball cheerleading practice. In the spring, I have track practice.

While in-season, my afternoons or early evenings can be filled with games or meets in lieu of practice. During cross country season, most meets are on Saturday from 8am-12.

Yada yada yada. I don’t know the exact wording of her essay but the above is the rough flavor of it.

She got a 4-year AROTC scholarship on the first board to the 3 schools at the top of her list.

I suggest that you write your essays and contact the ROO at your #1 school for a review. DM if you have further questions.
