The Waiting List

Would anyone know what waitlisted means for one's MOC slate? If I was waitlisted, does this mean that someone else has been appointed out from my nomination slate? If I were to receive an appt later, does this count as one of my MOC's spots?

Whether your offer of appointment is charged to your MOC or not may be a mystery forever. Admissions must piece together a complex puzzle that allows them to build the class they want, using the nominations they have available.

Perhaps the only candidates who’ll know for sure that their offer was charged to a specific MOC are those who were principal nominees. In the end, it doesn’t matter to whom your offer was charged. You’re in or you’re out — that’s all that counts.

DS waitlisted also. As hard as that is to hear it’s nice to know he is a good candidate for an appointment but just needed a spot. We are certain there is a Napster on his slate so we knew it was going to be tough. We will continue to keep positive and move on. He will certainly reapply next year.

Send DS my well wishes in waiting to hear back from the waitlist and potential reapplication next year - that must be tough having to go up against a Napster on your slate, that must have really made it harder for him to have a spot. Best of luck!!

The Napster being on his slate does not have an advantage when he is competing for that spot on the slate. The slate will usually be resolved with the most qualified individual. The Napster will have an advantage when the class is filled out with Additional Appointees. This is where they get the slots for most of them. They just need a nomination.

If we reapply from college, does the academy still see everything from the year prior? ACT, leadership, etc.

Thank you for the info , I had the understanding that a slate with a Napster went to them. My bad. But I don’t know if that makes me feel better or worse . Oh well, this kid of mine is awesome and will do great things in his life. I am confident that where he lands will be lucky to have him. Good luck to all of our wonderful young adults who are making this choice. I am in awe of your commitment to country and wish you all the best.

This sucks. I am still CPR and under waiver review. I just don't know how to feel this late in the ball game, considering I didn't make the waitlist.

>This isn't about being on a slate with a NAPSTER. In most cases, the NAPSter is only 1 of 10 on the MOC slate, and Admissions has other NOM sources for the NAPSTER (SECNAV) if the other Candidates are better qualified.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you find out you have a pending waiver review? Were you told by USNA? Or your DoDMERB portal? I was informed that our status in DoDMERB would stay “under waiver review” until the time came when they either gave you one or not. Then status would update to waiver granted or waiver denied.

Academy keeps:
- standardized test scores. All you have to do when you reapply is email your admissions counselor and have them put last year's scores back in. You can retake them if you want, but ask your admissions counselor if it is recommended.
- DoDMERB medical given that it is your second time applying (DoDMERB lasts two years). When re-applying a SECOND time, you don't need to retake all of the physicals again. All you have to do is fill out this medical sheet DoDMERB gives you on your DoDMERB portal (once you complete 50% of your application) saying if anything came up since last cycle. However, if this is your third time re-applying, you have to go through all the physicals again.

Everything else (personal data sheet, activities sheet, CFA, Eng/Math LORs, BGO interview, transcripts/academic information, and nominations) you have to do it again. When the dust clears around July-ish, email your admissions counselor and ask how you can improve from last cycle.

I apologize, I meant to say "under waiver review." I found out last Friday when I received an email from DoDMERB. It still says "Complete Medical Qualification Exam" on my application portal, but I just don't think they updated that yet.

Great info, but I just want to be clear that leadership roles DO NOT carry over from hs? I had a lot going in this round and just want to be sure. And it seems weird as a re app that you’d only really have grades and test scores and very few places to exhibit other things considering it’s your first year of college.

The nomenclature can get confusing. From other posts from Mr. Mullen under DODMERB I understand “under waiver review” means only that the Academy has access to your records. It doesn’t mean they are considering a waiver. The Academy will tell you if they are considering a waiver usually by giving you an LOA pending a waiver. Search Mr. Mullens posts on the subject.

Oh ok gotcha! Just asking maybe if they were actually informing some people. Our status on both portals may actually stay that way until we hear back either way with a denial or actual appointment. I’m still waiting as well...CPR and a medical DQ, that I hope the Academy seeks a waiver for. Good luck to you!!

And yes sir! That’s exactly what I was told how it works! That’s why I was like “wait, what were you told”....GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!
