Ok so I am in AROTC and DODMERB found a medical history of ADHD that I didn't even know about. It doesn't affect my performance at all. Do you guys think they'll kick me out? Will they take away my scholarship? I honestly didn't think I had ADHD. But, I do. What will they do to me?

Your post history says otherwise! What direction is your moral compass?

Yes, they could disenroll you and take away the scholarship. If you stay beyond your freshman year you could be required to pay back the scholarship.

From what a friend of my son is doing for same diagnosis he had to do a waiver and since he has never had medication for it his waiver is supposed to be going through. His waiver process is for enlisted entry Marines. He has been going through the process first with Navy and then he switched Marines. From what he has shared he started process before they graduated last year so seems long to me but I don't know how much time was because of changing branches.

Jga12, just curious....how did Dodmerb determine you had ADHD? I assume you passed the Dodmerb before contracting, didn't they review your medical history? Something new come up?

Don't know on his but DS 'passed' DODMERB but then at school a couple weeks in he had to send in more info on his allergy to insect bites he had when he was young I assume it was a waiver since he had to show he has never had a daily script just Benydril when bitten but hasn't need anything more that anyone would need. So I think some of the 'oh you need a waiver' times come up after school starts.

Look familiar?

"To be honest, I don't care. I need to be in the military. I've tried all branches but they don't need people right now. I'm more than functional too. I simply look like **** on paper."

I'm not sure "paper" is the only place after reading your posts.

You are not going to find a lot of support here when you lie. How did you not know you have ADHD when you posted this:

bro, question. Will dodmerb see my files from meps? I got pdq'd from meps with no chance of a waiver for a silly childhood adhd thing. It doesn't affect me. I was wondering, would DODMERB see the files from MEPS or can I just do it right this time and not say anything little like that?

Because I just now found out. I'm not gonna lie. I'm not contracted or anything yet. I simply want answers because I'd do anything to join but currently I'm afraid to take a step in any direction. I am not contracted yet. I just want to know how bad the consequences will be. If it's less than a 5000 fine, I will gladly do it. I'm sorry if I pissed anyone off here.

The ADHD is waiverable--if you can prove you perform well and have not had to use medication for a certain period of time. However, the failure to tell the truth is daunting--and not just to the people on this page. I wish you the best of luck with sorting through this but sincerely advise you that you must be honest in your discussion of your ADHD and in your efforts to serve going forward even if that includes clearly stating to you PMS or whoever that you are so eager to serve that you did not truthfully complete earlier paperwork--and you have to take that lesson and grow from it.

jga12 - explain your timeline and situation. You are DQ via MEPS already, or was that part a lie?

The answers to these questions can help you with a review of waiver criteria and qualification criteria to join the military.
Are you a college freshman or Sr in HS?
On medication for ADHD currently or in your past? What dates on medication?
When diagnosed? What other diagnosis besides ADHD? Any criminal conduct?
Do you have, or did you have an IEP in HS?

Your ADHD does not have to define you. Joining the military does not have to define you either. Plenty of options exist to be a successful person without the military.
1) Go to school or get a job and do well without medication and then join ROTC. Or enlist with a waiver after positive documented academic or work performance. This will take 1-2 years off the medication.
2) Enroll in ROTC without a scholarship or contract and complete a year or two not on medication. Try to contract with a waiver after your performance without medication is documented.
3) Take the medication if necessary and finish what you start - every class, every work assignment, and every job. Perform well and be a productive member of society.

Do not stop your medication without the guidance of a physician.

Gosh people. I think folks are jumping to conclusions way to quickly. I can see someone who was diagnosed with ADHD at a very young age not realizing he had been diagnosed as such. In fact, the diagnosis would have been given to a parent and not to him. I also believe that a parent wouldn't necessarily mention it to their child. It's entirely plausible that OP found out about the diagnosis when MEPS went through the records and they informed him. I personally wouldn't be so quick about saying he/she lied.

MEPS would only know about an ADHD diagnosis if he listed it on his medical history. The only time they would go through previous medical documents is if they asked for them based on what he listed on his medical history. MEPS didn't tell him that he had ADHD, he told MEPS that he had ADHD. My comments about lying are in reference to his earlier posts about what would be the consequences for lying to DODMERB about his ADHD.

kinnem - the lying is in regard to previous posts. He sought direction and presented numerous stories/scenarios (lies) regarding his 'history'.

Agree with @AROTC Parent
The OP has posted different scenarios "posing" as real instead of being up front with his actual situation.
I exchanged a brief PM with him to ask him what his game was. His answers seemed sincere (for the first time)

I believe this to be true:
  • He is in college currently. Unknown what year, but likely a freshman.
  • He previously tried to enlist and went through MEPS.
  • MEPS uncovered the ADHD, which he says he did not know was on his record.
  • I don't believe he is treating the ADHD or on meds.
  • He is currently enrolled in AROTC classes but has not disclosed to his Cadre the MEPS situation.
  • I don't believe he has a DoDMERB file open, but fears what will happen if the process begins when he attempts to contract.
  • He is here trying to see what his options are but screwed up by posting BS scenarios. (not smart).
  • He doesn't seem to understand how serious a dishonorable discharge would be on his record.
Or....he may be a troll. (I don't think it is a reincarnation of Bobby).

These points are helpful to understand the potentially bad headwork going on here by the OP.

I believe the mention of a dishonorable discharge in this context is not a likely outcome, as that is a punitive type handed down at General Court Martial for major crimes. If worst came to worst, there are many other types of administrative discharges that are used for people in training pipelines who find themselves (however they got there) in situations requiring involuntary discharge. I agree it's a consequence to be avoided.

The link below, while not official, is a good clear English summary of discharge types.

I think the key here is to encourage the OP to gather his info and be candid with his chain of command. Better they hear it from him than an official notification from some external source.

If OP is to be found lying down the road, is he ready to deal with "pay back is a female dog" for the scholarship?

Don't. Do. It.

He's only posted for THREE days now. I hardly call that previous posts.

I wasn't aware of that and assumed it was in his documents. If that's the case then obviously he did lie.
