For those of you still awaiting that coveted BFE from USAFA, beware: DS's appointment letter came in a THIN envelope -- a thin, parchment colored envelope. If we didn't know he'd gotten an appointment, seeing this in the mailbox might have caused some despair.

Has your DS accepted his appointment? I wonder if we will receive a BFE after admissions has received notification that we have accepted the offer of appointment.

That's what DD received too. I'm hoping she still receives a bfe as well.

DS has not yet accepted the offer. Just yesterday he also received a BFE from USMA, so he is currently weighing these two options.

Well that sounds like a good reason not to accept it! Congrats! Pretty amazing to have such options!!

BFEs are most likely a thing of the past. Most appointment processing will be done through the portal.

Not getting a bfe with the nice certificate would be a huge bummer :(

My DD said if its on the portal that is enough for her. She also said, anything they send to document the appointment would be somewhat meaningless, she has earned the appointment, but its more important that she graduates, now that all she cares about. She said, getting the appointment is easy compared to what is expected of her over the next 48 months and then..... giver her the wall hanging at graduation. She is also totally stealth on this forum, won't admit appointment and didn't allow MOC publish her name. She keeps saying as it is an accomplishment to get in, getting anything at this point is like getting a participation trophy. Please note, as she is like this I know as a parent she is very excited, and were excited for her. Her views expressed are for her only, were not saying they are correct or otherwise. Just expressing her feelings.

She's on the right track! So many cadets think getting in was the hardest part and now they can coast until graduation.
