Things to be completed after EA

Ok...Here it is April 16 and still no EA's.

Assuming a cadet gets one of these "gold tickets" this year....what will the cadet need to complete at their school and detachment before they can return home for a quick visit before their Max?

How much time is usually required to complete these tasks?

How late of a date could my DS learn that he received an EA before having to change his (non- refundable) flight home on May 1?

School
- Finish the sem/term with > 2.5 obviously
- Make SURE you know what classes to take for summer (if any) and fall. I went to Max 2 last year and had to have a friend login to my school's website and get classes for me

Detachment
- Immunization records (chicken pox, etc) - time it takes depends on how fast you can get access to it, scan/send/fax it to your DS
- Bag drag (all items need to be purchased, cadre needs to physically see each item to check them off) - time it takes depends on when you can purchase everything on the list. Took me a day at a local BX
- SSBs/ABUs - getting name tapes on ABUs, hemming/fitting SSBs if they don't already fit

Hmmm that's all I can think of at the moment...

My son stated the process took a little over an hour for his flight on Tue.

He still has to get BC glasses though... Lucky him.

Thanks for the info..

Doesn't the detachment already have copies of the immunization records? Or would that be the school that has copies? I remember having to come up with when DS first started at ERAU.

Don't they keep copies in their files?

@ERAU... I'm not entirely sure -- I had to pull the immunization record documents from home. I just scanned them to our NCOs who were inputting the info. I believe schools are supposed to maintain those records though.

I believe for our DS the det did not have his medical shot records, but the school did. However, we were new to this and nobody told us to make sure his shot records were up to date. He had to get three or four shots.

Menoccocal Booster
H1N1 booster
Tetanus booster (it was going to be outdated in late July)

There may have been another. His drop for SFT was in early March and they didn't find out until about now their Max, thus when they required the medical records had he had Max 1 or 2, and not 6 he would not have needed the boosters.

I thought for the medical they also required the short physical of eyes and ears, height/weight etc. It might be that for our DS they did because he was scholarship, and his DoDMERB exam was no longer valid.

Our DSs det ordered the name tapes, but we had to take them to the cleaners and have them sew it on.

How long is the DoDMERB good for?

I asked my cadre several times about this 2 year dodmerb validity thing to see if I would need to redo my physical anytime soon and they said no. We don't need to renew every 2 years. As long as nothing in my medical history has changed I'm good to go. As far as shots go, the FTM says we need proof of MMR and chicken pox shots. I've had each at least twice before I know, does anyone know how long these shots are valid for? Or do you just have to have had them before?

2 years. Mine's expired too. I think we just need normal dr.'s physical within a year or something.

So basically the AF expects ALL EA hopefuls to have everything ready to go at the drop of a hat even though there may be just a 50/50 chance of being selected for SFT and Max 1 starts in 35 days?

Pima.....I'm feeling ya.......

I believe that is why DS had to get a short physical AFROTC16.

Non,

Have you checked into that. I am shocked that menococal and H1N1, plus tetanus is not in that requirement. Swine flu is highly contagious, same with menococal. Our DS didn't need chicken pox because he had them when he was 7.

I won't be in the States this summer until a couple of days before Max 5 so at our counseling in February I asked again if there was anything I needed to do as far as a physical or shots for FT and they said no. After reading the 2014 FTM it says in there that we need MMR and Chicken pox vaccine done, doesn't mention anything else. Kinda running out of time here to do last minute checkups, I was just going to get a copy of my immunization records since I know I've gotten what they're asking about before. But I'm going to be really pissed if it turns out we do have to do another physical or shots not listed in the FTM because I asked them, several times, months ago if there was anything I needed to do since I wouldn't be in country to do them. Sigh, guess I'll have to ask again to make sure their sure.

afrotc16,
You said yours is expired. Did your cadre tell all FTP they needed to get another physical before the end of the semester for FT??

I wasn't told explicitly but I remember hearing somewhere that we needed to have a physical form (just one like your Dr. gives you at your physical saying you're in good health, can participate in physical activities and has your shot record attached etc.). It makes sense especially since many cadets' DODMERB physicals will be expired. Those are normally good for a year so if you've just had a normal physical within a year you should be fine.

It says it in the FTM page 29.
