Third AFROTC Scholarship Board Cancelled

We just received an email that that the third HSSP scholarship board is cancelled. Anyone know why? The assumption was that the delay in notification was because they were combining the results of board two and three scheduled to meet at the end of the month.

This is terrible news. Please post a copy of the message.
 
Man. My DS made the right call today! He was offered the "Commander's" AFROTC scholarship from a particular school today. He was a little hesitant as he is still waiting to hear back from a couple of colleges and of course, the National scholarship. If they have been cancelled taking that offer may have been a HUGE Blessing!

I did not receive this email that the 3rd AFROTC Board is cancelled. My application will be reviewed on the 3rd Board, so that would be unfortunate news for sure.
 
On Friday my DS received an email from the regional LT saying that the results from the second board would be delayed until the 30th and that the third board was cancelled. His package was reviewed at the second board, and he had already received notification that the results would be delayed, but this was the first we heard about the third board being cancelled!!
 
The email just apologized for the delay regarding the HSSP results and said "The 3rd board, to our knowledge, is being cancelled." It looks like numbers are down across the board, USAFA acceptance numbers are also reported as being lower than normal.

What do you base these two statements on?

The email you received? If so, that email talked about USAFA numbers well?
 
As of today my portal states this:

Welcome xxxxx, your scholarship application status is "Eligible". Your AFROTC Scholarship interview has been received and processed. Your application will meet the next available selection board, scheduled March 29. Results will be released on or about April 6. You can check back here to view the results. We will also mail you a notification letter explaining whether or not you've been offered a scholarship.

I will keep the faith and trust the process.

Can't vouch either way for the truth of the matter, but this statement would be generally consistent with what happened last year with AFROTC at this time. The end result was a 22% reduction in AFROTC scholarship offers over the previous year with a much lower offer rate. Specifically,
1982 were awarded, down from 2534 the year before (a 22% drop).
Selection rate was 58.5%, well below recent historical norm of 70-80%.
Type 1 - 154 (year before 284)
Type 2 - 299 (year before 437)
Type 7 - 1529 (year before 1813)

Was your application only going to be on the third board? Or did it change from saying the feb board to the March board?
 
I've tried to search, but my search query isn't bringing up the data. Does anyone recall how many scholarships were awarded in the October board?
