Thank you for posting that. I actually have an original commissioning program for the Hornet CV-8. The Hornet was one the most remarkable ships in the history of the U.S. Navy. Even more so because her service was a little more than a year. Commissioned on October 20, 1941 she would be sunk in the battle of Santa Cruz on October 26, 1942. Between those two dates, Doolittle Tokyo Raid, Midway and the Solomon's campaign.
 
Her sister ship, the USS Wasp, went down in the same campaign about 5 weeks earlier. The Hornet landed the airborne planes off the Wasp when she went down.
