I got an email at school from him that is a ruth christ stake house resrevation ad.(forward by him not the company) I also missed 3 calls on my cell during calss, 1 from my mom, and 2 from my dad.....

I'm in 5th period open, waiting for school to end to find out.... will inform.

You've just made me even more anxious than I already am.

That is pretty exciting,

Tom Petty said it...

Waiting is the hardest part....

Hit the head, and while you're in there, make a phone call.

Better yet, head to the guidance counselors office and ask to call, given your suspicion.

LOL - exactly what I was thinking...
I think it is kinda of early for appointments to go out yet.... don't be too dissappointed if you haven't heard yet.

Well, this is just great. Now we ALL have to wait till RJ gets outta school to find out this little mystery. I should call RJ's school & tell them that I am with NOAA & a huge storm is coming right on top of them so they'll have to dismiss right this second. :shake:

RJ COME BACK!!!!!!

Sadly not many people know who NOAA is...one of the seven uniformed services...

US Army (USA)
US Marine Corps (USMC)
US Coast Guard (USCG)
US Navy (USN)
US Air Force (USAF)
National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
US Public Health Service (USPHS)

Am I leaving anyone out here? Maybe someone will say the Merchant Marine, but I believe in this context it falls under the US Navy because they are reserve officers in the Navy.

Yeah, when we were told at a KP meeting that KP kids can commission directly to NOAA I seriously went  Who knew! Cool stuff though. Mine said they stick those "poor" guys out there on a 50' ship in the middle of the Atlantic to take readings for 6 months. I do believe he was pullin' my chain as I was asking him if he had any interest in it. Guess not huh? :shake: Yep, the kids are Naval Reserve/Merchant Marine Reserve. They do two different swearing in ceremonies. And if that isn't all split personality enough, they go all freaky crazy on you and sign up to go Coast Guard active duty or some such. Go figure! I have a super hard time just keeping up. One kid was Navy gung-ho all the way and 6 months before graduation he calls old Mom & Dad & said, I've commissioned Army active duty. Whew. What a waste of all those good Navy sweatshirts they had hanging in the closet!

RJ!!!! COME BAAAACK!!!!! We're waiting on you, we're waiting on you, we're waiting on you..................

Okay, rj, I'm singing (well, maybe just humming) this for you and all the other Coasties-wanting-to-be while waiting to hear from you!

USCG Anthem
The Official Song of the US Coast Guard

Semper Paratus (Always Ready)
Words and Music
by Captain Francis Saltus Van Boskerck, USCG

Words and Music © Sam Fox Publishing Co, Inc.

Current Version

Verse

From Aztec Shore to Artic Zone
To Europe and Far East.
The Flag is carried by our ships,
In times of war and peace.
And never have we struck it yet
In spite of foe-men's might,
Who cheered our crews and cheered again,
For showing how to fight.
Chorus

We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through surf and storm and howling gale,
High shall our purpose be.
"Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our fame, our glory, too.
To fight to save or fight and die,
Aye! Coast Guard we are for you!

SNAFU

what a cruel, cruel, cruel sadistic father I have

heres what i knew up till end of school(all 3 hours I was in the dark, no cell phone use allowed during school)
I checked my email during an open period, had an email my dad sent, a ruth's chris steak house reservation thingy......... I checked my phone after that class, 3 missed calls from my dad... I called after school then this sad random cruel amounts of events came to focus

My dad sent on a white background with white font a message with that "now all you need is the acceptance letter"... the phone calls was him to call my mom about something else, and he forgot I had her phone

dang..... i'm still waiting, sorry for getting everyone's hopes up. It will be coming any day....

really sorry for the miss information :rant2: , my dad didn't know it was white font and white background on the email.... he's feels a bit bad... any day now the cga will send the letter, guess i was a little on edge to start
I didn't do AIM, applied but was not accepted, however I did do Boy's State
Well, i guess I'll use subject to announce it when it does come, good or bad.....

I thought it seemed a little early for the USCGA to send anything out.

They have listed December 24th as the date of EA notification.

Relax, it's only 10 days away!

Hey,rjcuga, its okay. You are on a roller coaster ride for sure! You just crested the first little hill and are on your way to the next one.

I'm not crest fallen(at least, not to the extent that those words would be appropriate), more like less anxious because it still is a bit away. Just thinking for a bit that the answer could have been an hour or so away made me jump the gun. My only worry now is what I see on the CGA website for the personal web page... Where it says what has been recieved, there is one that isn't marked off(which just appeared a day or so ago) which is my english teacher eval. I really don't know how to trust it though, since it has not been working for me. At first it said that nothing was done, then only the stuff I mailed in, then the online stuff but not the stuff I mailed in, then back to nothing. I called a while ago to my AO, but he was not able to check it then because his computer was down. I know I sent everything to guidance here, the question is if guidance sent everything.... and if thats the case and the application is not complete, will they notify me after?

rj, have you asked your guidance office if they sent everything? And have you asked the teacher if he/she sent in the evaluation? Teachers have been known to procrastinate...just be sure everything from your end has been done. Checking with your AO is appropriate at this point since your application page is not giving a consistent message. They are pretty busy right now. Patience at this point is hard, I know! You are still ahead of the deadline.

Perhaps I was premature in stating that the big white appointment envelopes wouldn't be delivered until Dec 24th........

....as the postman just dropped a big thick white USCGA envelope at our door!

My son won't be home from school for another hour, but it appears that the appointments have begun to arrive!

I'll post when he opens it.
