This concept seemed pretty popular on the AFA forum page, so I wanted to move it to my primary choice to see if y'all thought it was a good idea.

It's basically like the DIY appointment thread for those of us waiting. Put down your info, take yourself off when you get an answer. If we have to wait in silence, at least we can wait together!

#) SAF forum name / Self, DD, DS / LOA or No LOA / State /Direct Appointment, Prep School, College Re-Applicant, Etc.

Same question here as I have in that thread - why are you using the words "direct appointment"? You don't have an appointment. This will be confusing to readers. Shouldn't you be using categories like high school applicant, college applicant, college re-applicant, sponsored prep school applicant, self-prep applicant or self-prep re-applicant? Wouldn't this be more accurate?

That's terrific. Most people don't realize that the enlisted side is a true ass kicking. With all of the quals and tests, training and etc - it's a lot. Kudo's to you for handling all of THIS while you are also handling all of THAT. What's your Rate?
 
I’m an OS. I’ve been settled in at my unit for some time now and I have been gifted plenty of time to work on my future endeavors by my command. e.g. USCGA/OCS pathways. Are you in the service or prior?
 
That's a blessing! I assumed you might be OS or CS (heading straight to A School out of Boot) That was just a guess. Wiith Non-Rate time and the long waits for A School, though, it's hard to reach E5 in the CG and still be within College Age! :) Good for you! No, I am not. All my kids. Two Enlisted and now CGAS. Best of luck to you! I will send up a prayer and plenty of good vibes!

There are likely 2000 + still waiting for only a few spots. I'm one of them. Posting on here helps ease some of the anxiety. Maybe that's why smokers smoke. I think I have good statistics and a solid resume and I like to think I'm competitive. I'm also realistic in knowing there are some rock stars out there. Good luck to everyone who truly wants the CGA as their dream.
