Those of Us Still Waiting

Wow!!! I can't fathom what your son went through. In hind sight, I bet it was all worth it. At the same time, it must have been agonizing.

To all those waiting. Last year my DS applied EA, was deferred to Regular Decision, was then deferred to the waitlist, and then received an appointment on MAY 30!! You never know.......hang tough.
thank you.. it helps to hear this.

my son seriously wants to call his AO and have him ask straight up... like, if you know its a NO, tell me now.. I can take it... what I can't take any more of is this agony! With the quarantine and no other distractions, the suspense is off the charts!!! We are fully expecting a NO at this point, being how late it is, and how long that list of people already offered is.

We are calling Monday morning... got nothing to lose. The agony of waiting is unbearable.

Agree, wish if it were no, they would just say so. DDs application has now been under review for several months. If she's waitlisted, that means more waiting. I think at this point I'd rather have a no and be done with it. She could get back to preparing for AP and CLEP exams (which if she went USNA or USGCA she wouldn't need, but would prepare other ways).

I'd have to agree it's looking like Wait List is best case scenario at this point. I have heard that Wait List is not an Order of Merit based list, rather its more subjective in nature based on needs of incoming Academy class. Has anyone heard anything different concerning Wait List?

I heard the same about wait list. It's not like your listed in a numerical number.

Anyone's plan B includes attending Marion Military Institute or Georgia Military College? My daughter loved MMI (got to visit), but is open to GMC, but has not visited. One of those schools will be plan B😉.

DS1 was waitlisted in 2016, he is in the class of 2020. Got his appointment first week of May. Had solid plan B n C. Work on your plan B, you can always turn it down. Good luck!

Marion is my plan B. I've been accepted to their SAP program and that is where I will be going if the CGA doesn't work out. I was also accepted to GMC, but I felt that Marion had a better program for trying to get into the CGA.

If you haven’t already seen it, check out the Self Prep page on GMC. There is an AMAZING video that features a young man who is now a 4C. (If my timing is correct, a 4C. Regardless, he is at the Academy now.) Anyway, he was a self prep and the video will bring tears to your eyes. I wanted to hug him after I saw it...and I don’t even know who he is. LOL The point is, though, his self prep experience is one that everyone should hear about. What an inspirational video!

DS2 is self prep at MMI. He is missing all his friends right now. The staff are awesome. He received a call from his AO 3/20/20. Then got call from all the football coaches and 3 from admissions 3/21/20.

I know the wait is difficult, having done it twice myself. But, I promise that you will be informed when it is time for you, or your son or daughter, to be informed. I highly recommend you do not contact your Admissions Officer. It is almost April 1st and it sounds like Admissions is right on track to make all notifications to people still waiting for word.

Do not give up hope, you may still receive the news you’ve been hoping for. However, if it not the news you want, it does not signify the end of the road if USCGA is something you truly want. Prepare your Plan Bs and Cs, and then speak with your AO later in the year to figure out what you can do to make your application package stronger for next year.

Everyone please stay optimistic! We only have 4 more days until we all find out. If we waited this long we can wait 4 more days🙂

We'll be waiting ...

DD has a plan "B" -- she has a full-ride at a Tier 2 university. We've paid her deposit, selected her dorm room, and completed the financial check-in. All she still has to do is complete the placement testing... there are a few odds and ends on that end, but we mostly wanted to secure her spot and the scholarship. Plan "C" is at a school in the Midwest, but the financial plans on that end are still developing.

How great our kids have plan B and C's... I am absolutely sure our kids will succeed wherever they are this fall. And to those who want USCGA more than anything, they will be stronger for trying harder to making that goal happen. They will appreciate that call from their AO/Coach when or if that day comes.

Best of wishes to all of the canidates - and hopefully they will meet one day as classmates - either at MMI, GMC or CGA - this fall or another!

where is Marion? Georgia is definitely too far away.. we are in Jersey. He wasn't interested in anywhere that was a plane ride away
