Thoughts on Bear Mountain Inn?

Right now I have 2 reservations booked for R Day. I have the Holiday Inn Express in Peekskill and Bear Mountain Inn reserved. Thoughts on which one I should go with? Bear Mountain Inn is closer but I have heard mixed reviews on it. Appreciate any advice.

I do like the idea of being close is better for R-Day. Bear Mountain to West Point is a very easy drive. There are some hikes around that area as well if you are into that. Obviously the Bear Mountain trails, but also “the Trail of the Fallen”.

The Bear Mountain Inn is a classic old hotel built in 1915 set in a beautiful state park. The Holiday Inn Peekskill is on the other side of the Hudson River. The Bear Mountain Bridge is a toll bridge where you would cross back and forth to Peekskill. I know there are even closer options (like the Thayer) but I am sure prices increase as you get closer. They may also make those dates a "special event" rate that can be pretty pricey. I don't think you can go wrong with the BMI. The setting alone makes it worth it. It's a quick drive to WP.

Stay as close as you can. Bear Mountain in is charming. No room at the Thayer or the Ft Montgomery Holiday Inn Express?

I think Thayer is booked and Holiday Inn Express FT. Montgomery looking to get $400 a night:mad:

Then go with Bear Mountain. R-Day is long--by the time they take the Oath and complete the march into Washington Hall and those big wooden doors slam shut...and then you get back to your car...you may not wish to drive after being up to drop your kid off at Zero Dark Thirty and then walking about in the sun all day.

Also, you will want to make a plan for your kid to eat something that morning before the early drop off. Sometimes the different hotels will have a super early breakfast. Otherwise, pack bars and a couple bottles of water. Being close is key because your kid could be in the 0600 drop off group.

I didn’t mean for the kid to take w him. But rather for when you are driving there and standing in line to get into Ike…if this is more of a regular year.

Also no sunglasses. Cadet Hollywood charged into his future w his sunglasses on top of his head. At some point they disappeared

Bear Mountain is lovely. I stayed there with my family for my own R-Day and they have frequently revisited.
