My brother is the commanding officer of the USS Chafee and he invited me for a 2-3 week tiger cruise this summer. It's from Seattle to Pearl Harbor and back. I'm very excited to see Navy life on a destroyer first hand. I'm also wondering if this experience could potentially earn some points in admissions for the Naval Academy?

I've never heard it might. Have a ball and enjoy. Unlike the "Minnow's" 3 hour tour, this could be a long boat ride. Make sure you have a good book or 2.

Participating in a tiger cruise won't give you a direct advantage in the admissions process -- you might get some acknowledgement for your motivation/commitment -- but nothing beyond that. I'm surprised the cruise is actually that long. Normally it is one way (for West Coast ships) from HI to CA/WA on the way back from deployment.
The tiger cruise will give you insight on the surface Navy, though -- especially since your brother is the Captain!
