Not sure if this has been asked before, but anyway

I recieved a letter from my representative on Saturday that I will be "offered an appointment to the USAFA." I was wondering how long I should expect to wait before I hear this from the academy itself.

I have a friend who recieved an LOA and told me it took two weeks to reach him after being sent to other persons to inform them of his status.

I guess I am asking if I will have a similar wait time or not?

Thanks

Possibly. The SA notifies the MOC at least one full week prior to sending the letter to the candidate. This is a courtesy to the MOC so that the MOC can be the first to tell the candidate, if they want to. Some call or write the candidate themselves while some have a staff member do it and others don't do anything. So it may depend on how much of a delay there was from when the Academy advised the MOC of the pending appointment and the MOC contacted you.

2011's mom. The MOC notification isn't always as planned. My son's online application changed to "APPOINTMENT OFFERED" before anyone heard ANYTHING about it. 3-4 days later, the BFE arrived in the mail with the appointment enclosed. My son found out the same day as his state football game, where his ALO happened to come and watch the game. She didn't know he received the appointment. The following week, he received a call from his representative and 1 senator's office wanting to set up interviews for nomination. He thanked them and told them that he already received his appointment. (He had a presidential nomination already on the books). The representative still wanted to interview him. Either way; neither the rep, senator, nor ALO knew he received the appointment. I saw it on his online application first. That's how he found out. So; you never know. mike....

Exactly.

I got a call from my MOC before I got anything in the mail or an online update.
I was notified on the 7th, but there is still nothing online.

I guess you have to play it by ear depending on who tells you first.

Either way, it's great news no matter who tells you. :)

From what I've been seeing, the website is extremly slow to get updated. I sent my new SAT scores at the end of December and they haven't updated while the Naval Academy did so weeks ago.

Either way, its nice to know I'm in and can stop worrying, for a while at least.
