DS is taking the CFA Monday and that is the last piece of his application. Today we received much improved multiple choice scores for the Sept. ACT in both Math and English. We don't have his full ACT report yet as the writing (for USMA) has not yet been scored. We are afraid that his file will go to review once the CFA hits next week, without the improved ACT scores. Last time he took the ACT, it took almost a month before his portal reflected the new scores. Would you suggest reaching out to B&G or admissions rep? Curious if anyone else has been in this situation. Thanks

I think you still have time. Most nominations don't even interview until November or later and the appointments don't really start to flow till late January. My DS (class of 2020) got his appointment around mid- January and that was early. Still you can let them know if you wish. Good luck

The Application could be reviewed at any time after completion.... Admissions Board merely determines if "Qualified". Nominations and Appointments is a separate process. That being said, I suspect this is the time of year when lots of applications are flowing in, and we have no idea of Admissions is looking at them on a first in, first reviewed basis. My recommendation would be to email Admissions and his BGO with the new scores and let them know the official scores will be forthcoming.

I suggest your ds send a copy of the unofficial scores to his admissions counselor, so admissions has a heads up the official improved scores are on the way.

Thank you all for your responses! He will email them the unofficial scores as a heads up. I guess all of that time in March2success may have paid off!

Who handles appointments if not the Admissions board?

Who handles appointments if not the Admissions board?

The Office of Admissions, similar to any college, has various internal functional units. The Board itself is drawn from across the Yard - from the Academic side, Commandant’s Staff, etc. They deliberate and make the recommendations they are charged to do. Others within the Office act as their functions are charged to do. It’s deliberate, with checks and balances along the way.
