TN Noms

Near as I can tell, the Senators do not release the names/locations of the people they nominate.

Congressman Fincher had a published list from a couple of years ago, but I did not see one for the past couple of years

Corker and Blackburn have made at least some and probably all of their nominations

Okay I'm in finchers district and I have seen those lists, they seem to never fill out I think it was 5,5,8,9 for usna could I count on that again? I feel like I'm competitive I know there's a lot more to it than academics but I'm worried about noms because I had a 30 on the act and I took it once more in December and made a 35 and I couldnt update it and I'm worried that might be too low for a nom

Update your ACT. MY DD took the December ACT and it is showing up in her portal.

Is your 5,5,8,9 what you think is the nominations per Service Academy?

I think you are certainly competitive for a nomination.

Unfortunately, Fincher appears to wait until the deadline and then he mails the notifications so we might not know until week 1 of February

No the 5 8 9 9 was noms to USNA for the four years he posted it, do you know like how often people don't get noms

I would speculate that he would fill the 'slate' with as many qualified applicants as he could and that number is 10.

They are politicians and if he has 10 or more 'reasonably qualified' applicants, it would make sense to nominate the max # which is 10.

Nominating less than 10 or as many candidates as apply up to 10 would only serve to irritate people he would like to see vote for him in the next election.

All I have been told is districts 7 and 8 tend to be the most competitive. 91 applied to the Senators for USNA. There were 43 names on the interview list for Fincher for all service academies.

I would speculate there is a nomination available with your name on it

The last 2 years there were 10 USNA noms for Fincher, but the lists were not made public. I know because the office told me the numbers last year. I also know that Fincher never gives a principle nom or ever ranks the list. He leaves it to USNA. Good luck everyone! Also, I might add that you may have a clue to a Fincher nom if you recieve the turndown letter from Senators and it says you have been nominated by another source.

Woah I heard it was mid 20s not 43, is that 100% correct?

Last year when DS had his Fincher nomination, they were scheduled back-to-back all day. He said there were around 7-8 boys waiting turns with him, and they were ALL applying USNA. It is stiff competition. This year, since he is a second-timer (waitlisted last year at USNA) they just did a 30 minute phone interview because he was in college. Incidentally, Corker and Alexander had saved his file, so he didn't have to reapply for them. They did phone interviews as well. Fincher's complete file had to be redone though. Best of luck. I know how hard the wait is.

Its correct. The number you heard was likely for USNA. Because what we have heard, there are twice as many apps for USNA to all others combined. So the 20 something makes sense.

Congratulations !!!

Now the real wait - the Appointment

That 35 on the December ACT will come in handy

All nominations are equal. I am sure some slates are more competitive than others, but if you are fully qualified and don't 'win' you slate you go to the national pool
