... With Some Honorable Mentions

To CaptMJ, NavyHoops, and Ktnatalk,

I can not end my Service Academy Forum journey without publicly praising each of you. If you want to see real live angels on earth just look in the mirror. You three have been forthcoming, compassionate, empathetic, and every other positive multi-syllabic adjective I can think of! I still chuckle remembering that I thought MJ and Hoops were men and Kt was a chick! Most of all I think that stands to show that you truly help others by taking yourselves out of the equation and dealing with us based upon our individual needs at the time. I wish I could pay you for your assistance because you are worth your weight in gold - and that means I would be very, very rich and could buy the dang USNA if I wanted to! LOL Seriously, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

My honorable mentions are OldNavyBGO, USNA1983or5orwhatevernumberitis!, and of course Tactical Nuke for controlling all of the passwords, upgrades, and duplicated threads. And please Lord take extra special care of Brovol and Sydney for always making us laugh!

I will definitely stay around to see what happens the rest of this week. And I am so proud of the Class of 2021 appointees. Ya'll are truly great kids and deserve your appointments! I think Nap11 is going to be 1st in the class!

I just couldn't end this TWE day without giving credit where credit is due!
...... much love ♥

You are very kind. The military has a great tradition of helping those who are just starting on the path. I was helped by many as a JO, was privileged to work for many servant leaders, and I honor them by helping in my turn.

Tough to see so many TWEs rain down on such talent. I hope we will see many successful re-applicants next year.

Best wishes for health, happiness and wisdom in your family's lives.

Dear @WonderGirl1965,

Thank you. Again, you are too kind to put me amongst CAPT and Hoops, and so many others who have came before me and helped so many parents and candidates. My DD2 said I need a hobby last year and now I am addicted! I am just doing what I can to help and try to pay it forward. It's my way to thank the Navy and our country in a small way.

Truth to be told, you might have saw me in person! The day you took the picture of fencing practice - I attended a retirement ceremony in Memorial Hall (inside Bancroft) and we proceeded to the reception on second deck of Dahlgren Hall, where the practice took place. Had I knew you were going to be there I'd have loved to say hi.

Best wishes to you and your DD!

KT

Wow, I got an honorable mention, and I usually end my comments by saying, "Go Army, Beat Navy".

How long until I get my certificate in the mail?
Sorry Sugar, you have been sent to the certificate prep school waitlist! Chances of coming off the waitlist are slim because they have a very high yield rate. But if you reapply next year, you'll have a much better chance of actually receiving a certificate! Go... oh let's be honest, I really don't care who wins anymore but Midshipmen have way better uniforms!

As someone who has seen the thrill of the BFE and the agony of the TWE (to borrow from Wide World of Sports!) on this site for more than a decade now -- and even longer as a BGO -- I can tell you that this is always a difficult time of year for us. We feel like we know you and/or your parents and thus share your joys and mourn your sorrows. Because we go through it every year, we have to build in some "distance," but I can promise you that it still hurts to see the wave of turndowns and the resulting disappointment it engenders.

We wish we had all the answers. We wish we could give you the magic keys to an appointment. We wish we could tell you why candidate A received a BFE and candidate B, who looks just as great, received at TWE. We can't. We do try to lend our advice and then join you in hoping for the best. And we're glad that it is helpful even if the outcome isn't always the one we all desired.

Everyone here has one or more great options for the next four years and beyond. Never forget that the SAs and universities that accepted you also had a huge number of terrific applicants. And they chose you! They want you to come to their school right now. Embrace that. It may turn out that this school is the place you were meant to be all along -- life sometimes works that way. And, if you still want to attend USNA, then go for it!

Best of luck to all of you in your future endeavors. You'll do great!

What? Better uniforms? No way! Nothing better than West Point flying monkey uniforms, and the grey capes dominate USNA blue overcoats.

I couldn't agree more with @WonderGirl1965 ! This Forum has been a Godsend to so many. I know many are lurking/stalking and may never even log on. Perhaps you will never even realize the impact the advice, encouragement, empathy (truly!) and humor have helped so many. I feel the "FAMILY" connection here, on FB groups and parent organizations. Although I mourned with several people yesterday on the 2nd Tsunami TWE day, I am also so excited to hear how their "Plan B" works out. NO one could have said it better. Thank you...thank you ALL!

I've got news for your, WonderGirl1965. The SAF is now in your blood and every so often you are going to check in for the heck of it, get hooked on some new hopeful candidate threads, then follow those stories right through April 15th. You have gone down the SAF rabbit hole--changed forever.
