First of all I wanted to congratulate all of you for applying. That's the first step. I wanted to say that I understand how stressful it is getting everything in, but hang in there! I also know that it may not work out for you the first time around, but don't worry. My Junior year of high school I applied to the Summer Seminar at USAFA and was denied. My Senior year, I applied for a Congressional Nomination, and received an alternate slot. I finished my application, and was told in late April that I did not receive an appointment. Understandably I was frustrated, but I kept my head up, joined AFROTC in college and reapplied. Luckily for me, I just recently received my appointment to be part of the class of 22. This is for all of yall stressing right about now, DON'T GIVE UP. If you want it, keep working for it, and you'll get there. If any of yall are applying now or for the class of 23, feel free to ask me any questions. I'm basically a pro at the admissions process at this point.

Congratulations on your appointment!!
Our DS is currently part of the 2021 class, but also did not get in the first time through. He also did a year of college as a self prep at one of the falcon recognized schools, participating in AFROTC. I’m thankful you wrote this, as the first time through we were all unaware reapplying was even an option.
For those who may wind up with a TWE in the coming months (we heard both times in mid April ), yes, it’s devastating at first, but it doesn’t have to be the end of a dream to attend the academy. I’m thankful someone on this forum reached out to us, it made all the difference.
Congratulations again!! It’s a long road just to get to the starting line, but you’ll be better prepared !!

Hey I was just wondering if you would be willing to answer my question of how the reapplication process works? When does it start? Hows it different and are there certain schools you need to attend to reapply or can it be any? Thanks in advance! Also Congradulations!

Were you the principal nominee this year?

Thank you! It starts pretty much the same time for you as it does for everyone else. I started the Pre-Candidate Questionnaire over the summer, since my application was closed in April. You'll also go through all the same steps for USAFA application that you did before besides having to send in your first semester grades from college. The only thing that might be different is the process you go through for your nominations. For me, my congressman had my file from last year, so I didn't need to send in a lot of the required forms like I did the year before. As far as college goes, I would recommend going somewhere with a strong AFROTC program and engineering department. The Academy wants to see that you can maintain great grades at the college level while participating AFROTC or other extracurriculars that you may join. Texas A&M and Purdue University are a couple of good examples. The biggest thing is improvement. Do as much as you can to show that you've grown since the last time you applied. Hope this helps!
