Todays the day....COMMISSIONING!!!

A stirring and memorable day for the Delahanty family shared with your usual inimitable style. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations and Blessings to all. I'll be looking forward to Ranger School Tales.

Congrats EDelahanty on your DS's commissioning. Congrats to all others commisioning now. Wonderful post! Enjoy the few days you have with him before he leaves. He will be on his own now taking care of and supporting himself. That will be a good feeling.

My advice now is only to gently remind him with each phone call to hydrate continously so he will be prepared for that Georgia heat.

God Bless.

The quarter systems drags many things out, including commissioning ceremonies. Our DD was commissioned a 2LT in the United States Army on Saturday along with 7 other cadets from Cal Poly. It was a beautiful day, the ceremony was very nice and the guest speaker (a general who commands the Army space program at Vandenberg) was simply excellent.

The ROTC program has been a wonderful experience for my daughter and the other commissioning cadets. It was a pleasure to meet so many outstanding young people.

This chapter has now ended. It is hard to believe it was just 5 years ago that our daughter showed up with an ROTC brochure and started on this journey. During that entire time this forum and it's contributors have been a source of knowledge and comfort. My thanks to all of you that have taken the journey with us.

Congratulations, Mariner116, to you and your daughter. That went by fast, didn't it.

In another five years you'll be calling her Captain DD.

Congrats Mariner and your daughter! It really goes by so quickly but it is a fun ride to be a part of!
