If someone were to have a tonsillectomy (surgical removal of tonsils) AFTER they were medically qualified, would this have any impact on their entry into a service academy? If anyone has undergone the same or a similar process, how was the DODMERB follow-up? I know that each individual is reviewed on a case-by-case basis; however, I am just trying to understand any possible risks, disqualifications, and the severity of the procedure before proceeding.

Thank you very much.

The tonsillectomy would certainly need to be reported to DoDMERB. I don't know what impact it would have, if any.

you need to report it.
you maybe "DQ'd" for 6 months as after any surgery.
my son had his appendix removed and he had to wait 6 months to get qualified.
as he was waiting on a waiver at that time, the waiver review was also delayed 6 months.
call DoDMERB and let them know, they will tell you what to expect
