Hello everyone, I recently started my Junior year in high school and was wondering if it would be too early to contact my local blue and gold officer. I understand that with the new academic year starting, they will have a lot on their plate because of all the seniors applying and I do not want to waste their time. I would like to contact them in order for them to better understand me as a candidate and help prepare me for admission into the United States Naval Academy. I would be grateful for your advice on whether I should contact my local BGO or not. Thank you.

It is not to early by any means. It's good to see Candidates thinking ahead. That said, be respectful of their time ... do your homework, review USNA Admissions website, etc. and be prepared to ask specific and meaningful questions. " First impressions count, and a broad question like "How do I get in...?" is not going to help you. Also, candidates shouldn't think that they have to reach out to their BGO to show interest and motivation, or get face time with the BGO.

That’s amazing advice, thank you

i contacted my local BGO in early February of my junior year. He was great and met with my parents and I before the pandemic hit to talk about USNA and the whole admissions process. I still update him on how my application is going and he answers any questions that I have. I definitely think you should reach out and get a head start. good luck!
