Academically my resumé is stellar, but I am a senior who has done no sports. I will be doing a k-13 year though (to get associates degree) so I have another year to try an obtain a varsity letter, if I am only able to play one sport is it good enough? I know it better than none, and I know I shouldn't give up on trying, but is it unrealistic?

One sport is better than none.

However, there are a couple of problems with your plan. First, without ever having played sports in high school, do you think that there is one that you can step into as a super-senior and do well enough to get a varsity letter? Secondly, there would be the question of whether you have eligibility for a high school sport as a super-senior. Depending on your location, most state high school athletic associations only allow 4 years of athletic eligibility to any student. Just by attending a high school for a year you use up a year of eligibility whether you played a sport or not. That is something that you would have to discuss with your coach or your school's athletic director.

Good luck with your application to USMA!

One sport is enough - my DD only had one and she chose not to participate senior year due to pressure of college visits and apps. She regretted that choice but it didn't impact her winning a four-year during round 2 for AROTC. She continued senior year with her own fitness workouts and talked about this in essay on application site. She also had already won varsity letter her sport freshman year.

Varsity is better, but it's certainly not the whole point of doing a sport. Some folks get in without a sport but it's absence better be balanced out in other areas. How's your leadership? You make no mention of it, not that you need to answer here... you just need to think about it's offsetting the lack of a varsity sport.

^^ I agree. The WCS score is never about 'what is the minimum to get me an appointment?', since you are in competition with everyone else applying that year. Typically, candidates excel in several areas of athletics, ECA's, leadership and academics. Regardless of what sports you did/did not do in h.s., you will be expected to keep up with your peers once you are at WP. Being athletic doesn't end with passing the CFA or getting an appointment.
