Too Late?

I am in the process of applying to USNA, but I think that I'm too late for a nomination. I started an application to USNA back in June or July, but after pressure from my family, I decided to not continue to apply. That being said, I always felt a bit down when thinking about USNA and not being able to attend, so I picked the application back up even though my family might not be the happiest with it. (They are fine with both USAFA and USCGA.) I already applied for nominations and did not put USNA down for any of them. Two of the sources already gave out their noms, and I emailed the final source about my new interest in USNA. I am not expecting to get a nom from him though, as it is so late in the game. What should I do? I plan on continuing my application, but do any of you have any other advice for me? Thank you, and good luck to the rest of you.

Continue the application, ensure you apply for the VP nom, tend your alternate plans, hope for the best. Finish out the application. If you find yourself applying for USNA next year, you will be a re-applicant demonstrating true desire and perseverance, not someone who quit mid-application the first time around. You may also have some good material on personal growth for essays!

On top of what @kinnem said, should things not work out this cycle, see this as an early start on the next cycle. You wouldn’t be the first or the last candidate to win offer of appointment as a reapplicant.

Presuming you’re a high-school senior, work on Plan B, C, D... Look into the NROTC scholarship — the deadline is still weeks away, and no nomination necessary. And should you go to a civilian college next year — with or without an NROTC scholarship — take a plebe-like schedule to show USNA that you’re capable of high-level college work.

I think it should also be noted to any person wanting to apply in the future: "IT IS YOUR FUTURE, not your parents."

I did, but I did not put USNA down for it.
I'm no expert on the VP application process. Are you sure you cannot submit a new or updated app that includes USNA? I wouldn't give up without doing the research.

I second this. See if you can go in and re-submit. Then confirm with Admissions. Tell them you were struggling with parental pressure but are now pushing through to complete your exam.

I was able to change my nom app from USAFA to USNA from one of my senators. Although my chances are slim, slim chances are better than none. Thank you to everyone who responded.
Well done. Bravo Zulu.

RE: VP nom, you *simply* go in and apply again, listing USNA. You could in theory apply for VP nom 3 different times, each for USNA, USMA, USAFA, for example. As I understand it.

One of my sons actually did this, marked down one SA and hit submit. Did an additional one later, hitting submit. And then confirmed that each was received be each SA. Which they were.

I would also advise doing this as deadline for this one hasn’t passed.

Thank you, I just went ahead and submitted a new application.
