Top 5 movies

How about best food movies, either about food or memorable food-related scene?

I just watched “Chocolat” for about the tenth time, drooling over the chocolate and enjoying the whimsical plot. Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp without too much eye shadow, Judi Dench, Lena Olin, Alfred Molina, Leslie Caron.

But the best all-time food movie for me is “Babette’s Feast.” Foreign flick, but the food cinematography is rich and the impact of the food on the plot is part of the fun. It’s based on a short story by Isak Dinesen, she of “Out of Africa” fame.

Bonus points if you come up with bacon-linked entries.

I was going to be funny here...post a top 5 movie with Kevin Bacon 🥓 for the food bonus points.

But alas, c'est impossible 🤦‍♀️

The true question, “WHICH Willy Wonka”???

100 Foot Journey
Julie and Julia
Ratatouille
Eat Pray Love (note, not Eat, Prey Love) I crack myself up

Shout out to "Hud" - a classic! Maybe Paul Newman's best role (before Slap Shot)

One of my first dates with Mrs. cb7893 was to Hud, Syn Farmera (Hud, Son of a Farmer) in Krakow, Poland 1979. It was already a classic.

Most memorable lines?
Ghostbusters. Bill Murray: Yes. It's true. This man has no ****. The line was ad libbed.

Best absolutely stupidly crassly funny?

I'm Gonna Git you Sucka-Chris Rock was not a star but it was breakout role.

Best cinematography?
The Last Emperor

Scariest?
The first Alien

Foreign film with sub-titles?
+1 Das Boot
The Conformist. Same director as The last Emperor. I was in college and thought about dropping out and chasing after Dominique Sanda to marry me.

Musical score?
Master and Commander
Mrs. Soffel

War pic?

Have to admit I admired the heck out of 1917, particularly the technical aspect. But not enamored of it.
Old School-The Great Escape, Bridge Over the River Kwai
New School-Saving Private Ryan

All three male leads personify, in my mind, the American Soldier.

Break-out performance by a star?

Hands down, Jennifer Lawrence, The Winter's Bone

Best action series movies?
The Transporter. Unfortunately the quality declined with each sequel

Best villain?

Alan Ford as Bricktop in Snatch.

This is a family forum so I won't post the youtube link. It contains some profanity. Search Do you know what Nemesis means?

We need more @Capt MJ 's in this world. Thanks for keeping the thread going!!

Most memorable line?
"Only in their dreams can men be truly free, 'twas always thus and always thus will be." "Chaucer?" "No, Keating." -Dead Poets Society
