Top Gun Rumor 2

Makes sense. DS was supposed to see an early release of "Midway" last weekend in 29 Palms but he got too busy to go.

Interesting... would suspect the Studio would be the one asking, rather than Tom Cruise, but would be good PR for the Navy .
If this is true, then I presume this movie is sanctioned or approved by the Navy. As I understand it, the Navy has to review and approve a movie before it is supported... the Original Top Gun was supported big time, others like Officer and Gentleman, Annapolis, not so much.

Speaking of Top Gun....Spoke with my MIDN last night. Usually to my question “what’s new” I usually get “not much” but last night was a pleasant surprise! He said he took the screener for pilot/nfo and missed qualify buying by one point. I had no idea they do that. He said everyone does. Since it was a screener required he didn’t study or anything so is encourage that he would do well if he decided to work towards this. When he described what it was I was fascinated. Geeking out at that a bit, when he described all the stimuli coming at them and how they have to perform. Very neat stuff.

AVSCAB? ASCAB? ABSAD? No idea but wowzers. NOT college. May have a navy pilot in the fam.

@justdoit19

ASTB
Minimums for Navy: 5 6 6
Minimums for marine corps: 4 6 6

First #: academic aptitude (aka can you pass rigors of academics in flight school)
Second number: pilot aptitude (aka how well do they think you would do as a pilot)
Third number: NFO aptitude

Can take the test three times. They do not superstore!

He also mentioned (I *think* it was in him describing the ASTB -TY ) having to answer questions like: Would you a) cheat OR b) steal...or some other ethical quandary...where there was no option for NEITHER as an answer. What’s that all about?
