If you are in the Chicago metro area and considering the Coast Guard Academy, here is a wonderful opportunity for the entire family to tour the Coast Guard Cutter ALDER:

main.php

ADLER will be this year's "Christmas Tree Ship" visiting Chicago's Navy Pier and open to the public for tours.
Academy Admissions Partners will be on the ship on the Mess Deck to answer any questions you may have about the academy.
See the following link for all the details!

Sorry about the typo

Chicago - can't figure out how to correct the typo in the title!

My classmate (who is also my future brother-in-law) is the XO on ALDER. Nice piece on them!

It was a great event and even the weather was great -- mid-40's -- not bad for Chicago in December. We had about 300 visitors on Saturday during the tours and distributed academy brochures and CDs to interested students and parents. Admiral Parks was there (really nice guy) and Commander Durley the captain of the ALDER was on board visiting with the public for hours.

If you are considering applying to one of the service academies, visiting a public event like can complement a cadet-for-a-day and AIM experience.

BRAVO ZULU ALDER!
