Traffic violations - effecting entry??

Tigger, probably don't.

I have been in the workforce for nearly 45 years, all in male dominated professions.

I have made my mark by being the best I can be despite or regardless of being female. I have the respect of male airmen to generals to vice-presidents of corporations because I am good at what I do, not because I am female, minority, etc. But because I am me.

Do some comments from men offend me, yes. But, you must press on with confidence in yourself without letting them know it gets to you.

Two things.
1. Back off of this or you might find the mods locking this thread.
2, Get back on topic. The OP needs guidance.

I agree with your approach to a professional life.

However, I am not willing to ignore overt sexism when it presents itself. I feel an obligation to the next generation to do right by them and keep moving us forward to true equality.

As Pima wisely suggests, please focus on the OP's topic or the mods will take action.

Okay, seldom have I come to Maplerock's defense, however...

As the wife of a former AF fighter pilot, an aerospace engineer in a male dominated field, a former AF aircraft maintenance officer, again in a male dominated field, you learn to take and understand the jokes and satire of the men.

I'm sure Maplerock's wife does the same thing I do to many of my husband's comments...rolls her eyes and says "whatever".

If you cannot take some innocent comments, you will have a very difficult time in any branch of the military. You will gain the greatest respect from your male counterparts by being the best you can be as a person and not being overly sensitive to occasional sarcastic remarks.
I'm a white male and I've been known to make a sexist joke or a two. I also poke fun and myself (sexist jokes like men often are not-so-good at multi-tasking etc). Yes, many women laugh and agree. In all circumstances, you need to know your audience. That would be impossible on a forum and it is one reason why the comment rubbed me the wrong way independent of the fact that it is statistically false. I find it troublesome when someone cannot understand why others are offended. Some people have a bulldozer-like personality and figure they can say whatever they want, when they want. You know the type; for example, the ones on Facebook who call people "libtards" (if it matters, I've never voted democratic) and think they have thin skin if they are offended.

Now to the statistics versus perpetuating a stereotype in the movies: See http://www.thetrafficticketattorneys.com/blog/whos-more-likely-to-get-a-speeding-ticket-men-or-women "Men apparently have the gift of gab than women do when it comes to talking their way out of citations. Fifty-six percent of males who get pulled over can weasel their way out of a ticket. Only 43 percent of women are able to do the same." If the eyelash batting comment is supposedly true, maybe that is why men get out of more tickets because long eyelashes and thick eyebrows are a masculine sexually dimorphic traits. :confused:A lot of words ^^ suggesting that opinions often fly in the face of statistical reality. ;)

Back to the OP's question. I'm not willing to jump to a conclusion that the OP is a "blamer" or not "manning up". He/she came around and took the advice and now understands the perception of written words (which ties into my earlier paragraph).

To the OP. If you want to attend the Academy, apply. If the tickets are the reason why you stumble, the worse case is you will learn the power of perception and written words and other lessons/experiences that will help you grow as a person. IMHO, all upside and no downside. Don't let 20 posts by strangers shape the possible direction in your life (you asked peoples opinion if you should apply because of your tickets which lacks a can-do attitude). :) Good luck and I wish you the best!!
