I just received an email from USNA Admissions requesting my transcript for my 1st semester for this year. I am pretty concerned over this, due to a poor grade in a class (a VHS virtual class).

I'm not making excuses, but my instructor dealt a penalty for not logging in for a straight week - the week after the conclusion of the course. My grade dropped 10 points to a 75. Also, it's an honors class.

I already am not a straight A+ student; I have a couple Bs in my math classes. Knowing what you guys do about stats and everything, how poorly do you think this 75 will impact my chances? Thanks in advance. I am very worried.

I have question on that too. First quarter I had all a's but one c in ap lit. Does a c kill my chances? All other classes were ap and honors

Does USNA specifically request first semester/trimester transcripts? My school sent in junior year transcripts in October, and I haven't received any mail from USNA requesting transcripts from this year.

I haven't received an email neither.

I sent in junior transcripts over the summer and just received the email asking for the 1st semester transcript yesterday. It might mean my status with admissions is in a precarious situation mandating an academic update to make a decision, but hopefully I'm wrong...

Unfortunately I think you are absolutely correct.

@cmilli97 I think the 75 will be looked at in terms of the rigor of your school. Is it public or private? For example at my school, 85 is an honors grade

It is a public school, but very rigorous. The grade was in a VHS class however, so that may make it look even worse.

At least the 75 wasn't in Math, Science, or English. I could see this being far worse than a 75 in VHS

They haven't accepted my transcript either but I sent it in awhile ago... And my regional counselor told me they need it after first semester...

My transcript took 3 weeks to show up on portal. Mailed on Oct. 29, showed up on portal Nov. 17. I think transcripts and SAT's take longer because they are not directly submitted online unlike recommendations, CFA, Personal Data, etc...

I understand your angst and worry, but regardless, you must send in the transcript as requested. If not, there will be no progress on your application. If the rest of your record is strong and the ONE lower grade is not a trend, then you still have a chance. In fact, as long as you haven't received the dreaded TWE, it's not over. It's pointless to worry about something you cannot change. I'm pulling for you all. And remember not to rest on your laurels, they will be asking for end of year transcript too. Good luck.

Admissions experts: Would it be wise for all candidates to send 7th semester grades/ updated transcripts and additional awards from the fall to admissions?
And if so, how would be the best way to send them since everything was done digitally for the application process?

Only send them if requested. If it is not requested, sending one in just add the the amount of paper that the admissions officer needs to process. If you must, send an email asking if you want an updated transcript, but only if you must.

@5Day this is what I did. I had some improvement in 2 AP classes, and my regional counselor said he welcomed an additional transcript as long as it showed noticeable improvement.
