I recently noticed a post by someone thinking of transfering to USAFA from the Coast Guard Academy for a semester. Are semester (or even year long) transfers from one academy to another popular and what would the reason be for doing so?

Well if you are transferring away from USAFA, it's a GPA boost

You can volunteer and possibly be part of an exchange program. But it's only for 1 semester. Some student can even apply for an exchange program for an academy in a foreign country. It's popular; definitely. But very competitive. Hold an uber gpa at the academy, and you can have a chance. later... mike....

it varies semester to semester on how tough it is to go and how many people are sent. i competed against about 70 ppl in interviews and 36 of us went (19 to navy, 12 to WP, and 5 to CG). The following semester, only 30 ppl applied, and about 10 were sent.

and yes, it was a GPA boost an Navy ;) 6 of the 19 ppl got 4.0 GPAs. The lowest i know of was 3.6. now most ppl they send normally do well anyway, but everyone i talked to did better at navy than normal
