We finally got some written concrete guidance regarding the transfer of Army ROTC 4 year high school scholarship offers (I use the word concrete loosely).

Remember that there is no guarantee that a request for transfer will be honored, but if you are stuck it can't hurt to ask. Three things are required:

1. Accept the original offer. If the original offer is declined or
withdrawn, the offer no longer exists.

2. State in a letter or an email which school you are requesting
to transfer your offer to.

3. Send a copy of the university acceptance letter. The applicant
must be accepted to the university they are requesting to change their offer to.

A scholarship winner who wishes to submit a request for change should coordinate directly with the appropriate Scholarship Program Manager listed below at Headquarters Cadet Command.

Brigades POC EMAIL

1st & 2nd Michael Sutton
Michael.sutton@usacc.army.mil

3rd & 5th Ron Jackson
Ronald.jackson@usacc.army.mil

4th, 6th, & Nurses Larry Waller
Larry.waller@usacc.army.mil

7th & 8th Michelle Guffey
Michelle.guffey@usacc.army.mil

I also suggest you contact the ROOs at the potential gaining and loosing schools to let them know what you are up to. Battalions don't have the authorization to tell you that a transfer will happen, so don't let them do it.

Don't know how the process will work itself out, but we shall see.

Hope this helps.

Clarkson, should the student communicate with the Program Manager for the Brigade which includes the school where they received the offer, or the Brigade of the school they want to transfer to? Can you direct us to the easiest resource to determine what Brigade a school belongs to? Thanks much as always.

Is the request sent to the contact of the assigned or desired placement?

Knew that was coming...I was wondering the same thing as I wrote this post.

Again, the ROOs are your best source for information, I would suggest sending your request to the manager for the Brigade that your current offer school is in. If you are asking to transfer from one Brigade to another expect it to be a little harder, but again, it can't hurt to ask. Remember also that 1st Brigade is the Senior Military Colleges...SMCs.

Hope that helps.

I was just awarded a 4 year scholarship; however, it was to a school I will not be attending. If I accept the scholarship am I obligated to attend the school that the scholarship is to if my transfer request is denied?

No, you are not under any obligation to attend the school your scholarship was awarded. If you are not granted the transfer you can simply decline the scholarship and attend any school you like. If you still want to participate in AROTC and the college you are attending has a Battalion then you just sign up for the MS Classes and join AROTC as a non contract/scholarship cadet. As a non contracted/scholarship cadet you will receive no tuition, book money, or stipend. If you do well and are able to become contracted your junior year you will receive the stipend money for your junior and senior year.

DS was able to transfer his 4 yr scholarship in 2011 using this process.

DS actually requested a transfer between brigades and requested a 3yr AD to an OS private to replace the 4 year initially awarded. A little different scenario but same process.

Sappel32,
Can't answer laxmom directly, but here's our situation. DD wants to attend Choice #3, sent email 2 weeks ago to CC asking for 3-yr AD to be transferred from Choice #2 to Choice #3 (different brigades; both private elites), and was told that a response would be sent in 4-6 weeks (which of course puts us beyond May 1). She decided to accept admission to Choice #3 and wait. If she has to, she will join AROTC at Choice #3 and compete for campus scholarship for soph year. Hope that helps.

We are also following this process and haven't officially been given a date yet but based on other posts on this forum are assuming it will be sometime after May 1. My DS sent an email requesting the transfer within hours of receiving his letter and received a reply back telling his to accept the scholarship and then include a copy of the acceptance letter with it so that the transfer process could begin. He copied the ROO of the unit he wants to transfer to on his original request and will be back in touch this week. He has decided to attend his #1 choice and if he can't transfer the scholarship will join AROTC and then compete for a scholarship or hopefully be able to contract as a non-scholarship cadet in his junior year. The downside is that we will likely need to invest the $100. to hold his spot in the school that he does not plan to attend just so he doesn't lose the scholarship there.

We did end up completing the process that Clarcksonarmy suggested on this thread. DS accepted the scholarship and emailed it to CC. Then, he wrote an email explaining that he would like to transfer the 3YR AD scholarship from second choice to first choice school that he has been admitted to. He emailed it to the CC 2nd Brigade contact (where the scholarship was awarded) listed on clarcksonarmy's post, cc-ing the first choice ROO and the second choice ROO. He included the scholarship letter and his acceptance letter from the first choice school. So far, we have only heard back from the ROO at the second choice school, basically saying thanks for the update and good luck. DS has also left a message for the ROO at first choice school and gotten no response.

I am discouraged by the lack of contact and feel lost in this whole process. I would have thought we'd at least get some sort of acknowledgement of the request. We still need to schedule the DoDMERB exams. How long do you have to get those done, anyway?

If anyone else out there is going through the transfer process, keep us posted here! Would love to hear how yours is working out.

Good luck!

Thank you for your response. My DS did exactly as yours upon receipt of scholarship notice, except it was to Cadet Command (as recommended by the transfer school) Only difference is that he has not had any response, so everything went into snail mail as well. I will have DS follow the outline of
Clarksonarmy.

I also am invested in two schools now but at a much higher cost :unhappy:

I believe you all are probably right, that we probably will not know until after May 1. Any other advice would be appreciated.

It might be different for each brigade, but the scholarship manager I emailed replied confirming the transfer request within 24 hours, though the ROO at my 1st choice school hasn't replied yet

(my transfer request is also for a 3yr AD scholarship)

DD is going through the same process to transfer a 3 year AD from one brigade to another. She followed the outline provided by Clarksonarmy (Thank God for him and Jcleppe...) She sent request status email a few days ago to the scholarship manager on Clarksonarmy's list. The response said she would have a decision "NLT May 1st". I'm sure this is crunch time for them at USACC, too. Good luck to all!

We have 3 prospects attempting to transfer their Army ROTC Scholarship offers. The first one was approved yesterday. Last year 3 of 5 successfully transferred their offers. Let me know if you need any assistance.

Clarkson and Marist...poaching all the good ones from the SA discussion boards. Those sly son of a guns...

To Marist College ROTC

Just curious...does the transfer college ROTC have any input in the actual transfer procedure? Thank you.

In this day and age it is all about networking! Shame on the others for not being savvy enough to find the SAF site!

OBTW, just out of curiosity how did the two of you find out about this site? Was it your own internet exploration or did a cadet tell you of this site?
